PAKISTAN

Culprits: Extremist Islamic outfits responsible for the death of 3,599 persons, including 1,523 civilians and 1,479 militants in 2007.

January 10: At least 24 people were killed and 80 others injured in a suicide bomb blast outside the Lahore High Court.

Jan 17: At least 12 persons were killed and 25 others wounded when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a congregation hall in Peshawar

Feb 9: 27 people were killed and over 30 injured in a suicide attack on an election rally at Nakai near Charsadda town in the NWFP.

Feb 16: A suicide bomber rammed his explosives-laden car into the election office of an independent candidate in Parachinar city of FATA, killing at least 47 persons.

March 11: At least 30 people killed in suicide blasts at the FIA headquarters and an advertising agency office in Lahore.

June 2: A suspected suicide bomber blew up his car outside the Danish embassy in Islamabad, killing at least eight persons and injuring 30 others.

June 25: Taliban killed 22 members of a pro-government “peace committee” at Jandola of Tank in the NWFP. Taliban spokesman Maulvi Umar claimed responsibility for the killings.

July 6: 20 persons, including 15 policemen, killed and more than 40 wounded in a suicide attack near the Melody Market area of capital Islamabad.

The suicide bomber targeted policemen deployed at a rally observing the first year anniversary of an army raid on the Lal Masjid (Red mosque) in Islamabad.

SRI LANKA

With more than 4,000 deaths in 2007, Sri Lanka too, continues to be one of the most violent conflict zones in the world.

January 16: At Buttala, a civilian bus was bombed, and the fleeing passengers were gunned down, killing at least 30 people. The Sri Lankan government claimed that the gunman belonged to LTTE.

February 3: Suspected Tamil Tiger suicide bomber blew herself up outside a train at the main railway station in Colombo, killing 12. The bombing of a commuter bus in a suburb of Colombo killed 26 and injured at least 64 on April 25.

May 26: A time bomb exploded on a packed commuter train carrying 200 passenger onboard at Dehiwela railroad station, blamed on LTTE. Eight killed.

June 16: Explosives detonated in front of a police station in Vavuniya, killing 12.

IRAN

On April 12, at Shiraz in Iran, a bomb exploded, killing 13 people, inside the Shohada Hosseiniyeh mosque at around 9 p.m. during a sermon by a cleric well-known for criticism of Wahhabism and Bahaii. Tehran blamed Western-backed monarchists for the attack.

YEMEN

In Sa’dah Governorate, 15 killed and 55 injured in a bombing at the Ben Salman mosque .

IRAQ

219 American soldiers were killed in hostile encounters in 2008, 4124 soldiers having died since the war began. 86,425 to 94,290 Iraqi civilians killed since beginning of Operation Iraqi freedom, according to iraqbodycount.org

January 16: A woman wearing a vest lined with explosives blew herself up near Shiite worshippers in Diyala province north of the capital, killing nine of them.

February 1: Two mentally disabled women were strapped with explosives and sent into busy Baghdad markets, where they were blown up by remote control. The bombs killed at least 98 people and wounded more than 200 at two popular pet markets.

March 6: 54 killed in a popular market in the Karada shopping area in Baghdad on March 6, a roadside bomb detonates

April 15: At least 53 died and another 90 were injured when explosives packed in a bus detonated outside a restaurant near a court in Baquba, north of Baghdad on April 15.

June 17: 63 people were killed when a minibus packed with explosives detonated near a marketplace in the Huriya district during the evening business rush.

LEBANON

January 15: In Beirut, a bomb targeting a US Embassy vehicle detonates, killing bystanders.

January 26: A car bomb killed one of Lebanon’s top terrorism investigators and three others in Beirut.

ISRAEL

Culprits: Armed Palestinian attackers, members of Hamas’ various wings

January 24, 2008: Two terrorists entered the Mekor Hayim High School Yeshiva in Kfar Etzion, south of Jerusalem, and stabbed two students. The Izaddin al-Kassam’s Martyrs Brigades, the Hamas military wing, claimed responsibility for the attack.

March 6: Eight men, seven of them teenagers, were killed when a Palestinian gunman entered the Merkaz HaRav Yeshiva in Jerusalem and opened fire.

July 2: An Arab resident of Jerusalem deliberately drove a bulldozer into pedestrians and vehicles in central Jerusalem, overturning and flattening a number of buses and cars. Three people were killed.

July 22: Sixteen people were wounded when a man drove a bulldozer into a bus and four other vehicles in central Jerusalem.

AFGHANISTAN

Culprits: Regrouped and resurgent Taliban militia.

January 14: A suicide bomber kills six at the Kabul Serena Hotel

January 30: Taliban insurgents were blamed for a suicide bomb attack in a mosque at Lashkar Gah, killing at least six including a provincial deputy governor, Per Mohammad

July 7: 41 persons, including four Indians, were killed and over 140 were injured when a suicide bomber rammed his bomb-laden car into the gates of the Indian Embassy in the Afghan capital Kabul. India said the ISI had a role in the suicide attack.

TURKEY

July 9: In Istanbul, four men, believed to be Turkish citizens, attacked the American consulate around 1100 local time. Three of the four began shooting and were soon met with police fire. The three gunmen, as well as three police officers, were killed in the exchange. The fourth assailant, the driver, escaped the scene.

July 27: Two bombs kill 17 people and wound at least 150 in Istanbul. Separatist Kurdish rebels suspected.

you are correct. Muslims were probably on the rise pre-9/11 taking over the west politically, economically, and in every other way.
