A police source said there was reason to believe those arrested were not British citizens. They included a 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman seized on a major highway in northern England on Saturday night and another man, 26, detained in Liverpool, 220 miles south of Glasgow, on Sunday.

Hey Kaleem - things are looking bad for you. Even the BBC news on TV are not reporting that the suspects in the bombing are not British, but are of various middle eastern nationalities.

Who cares if they're the "radical" or "liberal" types. What the hell is wrong with Muslims in general that they cannot divert their energy into productive and peaceful demonstrations. Why cant radical suicidal group put down their kerosene and pick up a petition? Why cant the liberal "islam is a religion of peace" group stop whining about media bias and finally shut down mosques and deport illegal imams?
Either way, Muslims are to blame. The ones that blow up buckets of nails - and the ones that do jack **** to report murderous muslims to proper authorities. The same muslims who house illegal immigrants in a vow of secrecy are the ones who would much rather not have the authorities intervene in their mosque(see other thread spearheaded by Fraud) .
Yes, Islam is a religion of peace - but that also demands telling Jim the constable that your friend Abdullah the psychopath might be planning to blow up an airport with a barbeque. We're part of a community that first and foremost needs peace. What we do NOT need is community where lunatic leaders and pyrotechnic teenagers are protected by our "ummah". What good is a muslim brotherhood when you allow a small group of morons to tarnish your name and religion?

Agreed. This is getting truly ridiculous to be honest. Every damn summer there seems to be one terrorist threat or another over there in England. The people involved may or may not be British citizens but everyone has to admit, there is ALWAYS some sort of connection to Pakistan and/or the Muslim world in general. I think it is quite obvious that something needs to be done. I'm not saying that the government of Pakistan is responsible for it (other than the failure to shut down all the terrorist institutions within the country) but the Pakistani community in England definitely needs to take some measures to address the issue.
In this particular instance (that being the Glasgow incident), the two culprits involved may not be British citizens but I'm quite certain that the British-Muslim community has been involved in the previous incidents. The problem seems to be the cocoon that the Pakistani community seems to live inside in Britain, which is natural and quite common in many regards, but this situation is worsened by the growing sentiment of extremism that has plagued many muslims across the world. I don't think this "constant threat of terrorism from within" will improve in England anytime soon unless both of the above mentioned factors are addressed. I don't want to sound as if I have factual argument here, as I've never set foot in England outside of a brief stay in Manchester, but that certainly seems to be the case. I would love to experience the life of a Pakistani living within a typical Pakistani community in England first hand just to see what kinda environment and atmosphere they live in. Any guppy here who lives in England might want to shed some light and share their experiences to further this discussion.

The UK guppies who come here on internet would generally be the ones whose upbringing would be balanced or moderate.
We should be worried with the type - who leave their countries, but do not mingle with anyone else out of their small community. They are worried stiff about the 'bad' influence of the outside world and make double sure that their daughters and sons do not get any outside influence - they would be even more rigid & fundamentalist, and ensure a complete islamic upbringing for their children.
The mullas from 'home' feed on their fears & insecurity & blame it all on the corrupt immoral western society they live in.

All of this may be true and I agree that Pakistan needs to do a better job of shutting down these training facilities.
Now lets focus on something that is very important but no doubt will get brushed under the rug. Someday pakistan will elect a leader without the influence of foreign elements. How many of these madrassas have their origin in backing or de-stablising one pakistani govt or another? Most of these killing mercenaries were funded or trained to achieve ulterior motives of foreign elements. It is time that they claim full responsibility for creating such a mess and step up to help clean them up.

The 2 bombs in London failed to go off which were rigged via cell phone. Very fortunate that this al-Qaida franchise failed in their attempts to kill.
Now why would you have any loyalty towards those Muslims who speak or hint of using violence? Does that not go directly against Islam and it's teachings. Someone claims they are Muslim and so they are protected through silence and not turned in even though ultimately their actions will weaken the Muslim community and violate Islam's rules, what's more important, protecting these 'Muslims' or protecting Islam?

this is having a massive negative effect on many issues.
the gulf is widening between the muslim and non muslim world, much to the detriment of pakistani and islamic interests. if these attacks had been succesful, then the world would have changed yet again for the worse.

kaleem i suggest the western world listen to the concerns of the muslim world and for the muslim world to recognise the legitimate security concerns of the west.
these steps can all be done very quickly
the theory being that all these issues are due to unethical western diplomacy and wild (jahil) muslims

what you are saying about board members is correct. this is shooting ones own foot. everybody has a plate and you eat your share and allow someone else to eat theirs. if this doesnt happen then they'll be trouble.
