The mouth of a child is a terrifying thing to behold

I don’t know how I feel about this. I’m like… :S
but evolution is true :snooty:
Can anyone explain the ontogenetic process for this? do the bones ossify later?

This image will pop up everytime I look at a child now shudder
Re: terrified--child's skull
So that's where the adult teeth come from. Interesting
Re: terrified--child's skull
This was awesome. Thanks philo :D
What about newborns? Do they have two sets of teeth hidden in there somewhere?
Re: terrified--child's skull

Really, you guys never imagined that? I kind of knew that without ever looking.
I believe that new born will not have two rows but only one. It's later on the birth of upper row that will start pushing the baby teeth out from the gum and continue to grow till the adult tooth pushed the whole baby tooth out, one at a time.
Re: terrified--child's skull
no I actualyl had no clue
had never thought about it
thought they grew on the spot :(
