Hello everyone.
i basically needed to write this down to calm my nerves.
My wedding is in May and my bridal dress is supposed to be delivered to me by next month. The thing is whenever I ask for pictures of my dress, the designer tells me she will send pics of the finished dress.. This has happened for the third time and I am beginning to freak out.
She seemed like a very nice person and was referred to me by a friend who had a great experience with her , she gave me an appointment via Skype and we discussed my dress in detail. I’ve made my payment when I placed my order.. It was a smooth process but now I don’t know why I’m getting uneasy
have been reading about too many horrible experiences with online vendors… It’s just getting to my head,… What do I do?
Try being more firm with her especially since you already paid. Tell her that you would like to see the picture of the dress at the moment to make sure it is coming out the way you like and be persistent, don't let her change the subject or put you off. Ideally, you should have discussed this before ordering, like deciding on what day of each week, she should send you pictures of the dress up until the finish product.
She did initially show me samples of the Kaam and when I gave her the go-ahead she has been updating me over whatsapp but with no pics. According to her I will get the proper 'feel' of the jora once it's complete....
i think ill just be frank with her and tell her I'm freaking out now

Yea I think you should tell her that you understand about the feel of the end product but since it's your wedding outfit, you would like to be part of the process WITH pictures otherwise it's making you anxious.
Ughh it happened with me toooo!!! I had specially gone to Karachi to chose a dress and finalize everything at least 6 months before my wedding & Mina Hasan had assured me that it would be ready 1st week of Decemeber so I paid her and came back! In the next few months whenever I would follow up with her I just got an 'ok' as a reply so I COMPLETELY was ****in in my pants by November end when I had seen zilch from her. The second week of December when I reached there and I visited her, she told me she hasn't started my dress because she thought I would lose weight (cuz I had mentioned it in passing 6months back that I'm trying) so she started taking my measurements all over again to start my bridal on 7th december & my wedding was on 21st December! Everyone in my family kept asking me where is ur dress & I would keep saying I'm getting married in my PJs (I truly believed this would happen) finally I got my dress 3 days before the wedding but it still needed a days worth of alteration & thank lord not more!!! No doubt it was just as I wanted it to be but all that stress just killed me everyday..
So based on my experience, here are a few pointers for you..
Schedule backwards from the date of delivery every important pitstop with her (e.g skype check of the quality of kaam, progress of the outfit etc) while u give her time to breath and do her work be very firm with her!
Send someone to check up on the progress of ur dress too, designers tend to take long distance orders lightly & prioritize local orders (Cuz the local customers keep troubling them)
Keep ur cool! She has to be an exceptional bit*h to not deliver ur outfit on time which I'm sure she is not if she has come recommended
If people ask u about the progress of ur dress, smile and say it's coming along (no more details)
Lastly good luck & focus ur energy thinking of something else! Hope u get it sooonnn though!

I second that... wish you didn't pay the full thing up front so you could leverage that!! Good luck and focus on what is in your hands (i.e. cake, center pieces, shoes, makeup, etc..)!!

Omg. That's a nightmare, I don't know how I would have handled something like that...
She has been very prompt with replying to my emails and whatsapp.. I just hope it's worth it in the end. I'm going to skype her first thing tomorrow...fingers crossed

I know.. That's what I was thinking... But because I know someone who had a really good experience with her, I didn't mind paying in advance.
i know I should concentrate on other stuff but the shoes, makeup... Everything is co ordinated with my dress :(
just hope im freaking out for no reason and everything turns out ok

My mother ordered my shaadi jora from libas e khas and they did the same thing. Wouldn't let hr take pictures of the outfit (so she couldn't send it to me...I have no idea what the dress looks like!) and my mother is going to pick it up in tomorrow...scared!
Future brides: lie about the date of your wedding. Push it forward a couple of months. That way you can freak out on the phone but be totally chilled inside
Update: I'm soooo happy alhamdulilah. I spoke to sadia ( the designer) on the phone and told her honestly that I was freaking out and wouldn't be ble to sleep if I didn't see some pics. She actually laughed! Was so sweet And told me to come on skype instantly.
I am beyond happy with the work. The shirt , which is complete looks fab, just the way I wanted it. She's right that it would look better once stitched but at least I'm at peace. She later sent me some pics also.
I actually feel feel bad about doubting her, will write a full review recommending her work once I receive my dress.
have been super busy so forgot to add pics. Here are the pictures of my complete outfit sent in last week. Im due to receive my dress any day now. SO excited. MashaAllah MashaAllah.
