Tennis racquet - recommendations

Those of you who play tennis, had played tennis or even have some rudimentary knowledge about tennis racquets, please help here.

Using some basic Google skills (:D) I have started to research what to look for when buying a tennis racquent, and the one thing I have picked up so far is not to go for the lightest racquets. There are some complicated formulas of physics that dictate that light racquets will likely cause tennis elbow, and though I have no idea what tennis elbow is, but no doubt it sounds painful.

Anyway, so please post some of your recommendations on racquets, preferably online sources. Please try to keep it under US $150. Less than US $50 would be better

Gracias!

here is something that can help u

I would suggest as a beginner u pick up any aluminium racquet by head, prince or dunlop. Once u have a better idea of your type of game then invest in an intermediate rascquet you can grow with.

Merci.

I was thinking of this one. A little pricier than what I was originally planning to spend on this game, but probably will last a while.

as a beginner, do u really need to spend money on graphite? if u are okay with it, than go for it.

head racqets have been my preference though. but no sound reason, i just like them more.

Agreed... as I said it looks kinda expensive for someone who has played tennis only a few times, but I am seriously thinking of taking it up regularly. However, the risk with going for a lighter racquet seems to be that you can develop tennis elbow really soon. So, I don't really want to be penny-wise-pound-foolish about this. But, yeah, ideally $50 should nail it at this point. WHat do you say?

I used to play tennis regularly in my teens... started out with those lakri kay rackets the ones common in the 80's... then used my dad's aluminium dunlop racket, (i cant be stuffed typing the correct spelling)... broke it after a while,,, and mind u, some of those aluminium rackets arent lighter than the graphite ones... but I do agree with the tennis elbow being painful.. cos i did suffer from it... You wont develop tennis elbow if ur playing like an insaan ka bacha,,, but if ur janglee like myself,, always in josh trying to be mark phillipousis with the serves and volley or from the baseline, then you better choose ur racket wisely.. having said all that, I,ve owned dunlop, wilson and prince.... I would say, dont go for something dirt cheap... around a 100 dollars should get you a decent quality racket from one of these well known brands like wilson, head, prince, dunlop etc.

having said all that, it was my dream to get a prince racket when I was young... so i,d go for prince... but anything around 100 bucks sound give u a decent quality racket... cos trust me,, the cheap ones arent good,, the rackets for hire they have at our uni are some cheap brand, and they suck big time!
also, your style of tennis also determines what you want, and oversized head? a smaller size and the normal medium sized head... also, the tension of ur strings,, depends on ur style of tennis... as a beginner, u can get anything decent and as ur style develops,, u can move to a racket of ur choice... its about the feel as well,, so instead of buying it online, why dont u go to a shop and try it out a little? the grip, the shape, the weight, u have to feel right about it too....

For the moment, I have bought a Wilson. Not terribly expensive, but as my game progresses I will move on to something better at some point. The one I have right now is Titanium with a shock absorbant grip and oversize head. Its a fun game, by the way, and great work out.

The main trick is to play with someone who has a similar game and not someone who is either too much toop ka bacha or total gadha.

exactly, cos u,ll be the total gadha when playing the toop ka bacha ;)
