Well, I dont know much about tennis in Pakistan... Its not famous here... I however, do know some guys who were really very good, but unfortunately most of them went to the US, and stayed there, where they are still playing, or ended up as coachs... As for the competitions, the condition of tennis in Pakistan is deplorable, but I dont really blame the Governemnt for that. Its because of peoples obsession with cricket and only cricket.
India however has done well in the tennis dept. My personal fav was Vijay Amritaj, he was amongst my fav tennis comemntators and hes funny too.
for ur information guys,,, a lady has represented pakistan in wimbledon!!!!
strange eh?? its a fact... it was back in the seventies....her name was sehgal something...
n that aisam guy is pretty good n still plays,,,, hes improving a lot,, n we might see his name more often in the future.
Well Aisam -ul - haq is the best player in pakistan, but he didnt played tournys here in pak. he rather plays lower level tournys outside pak. that's Y he is not No.1 ( by ranking) No. 1 is Asim shafiq n I think No. 2 is aqeel khan, but in the recently davis cup comp. ( in which pak. beat taiwan: first time ever) the asim shaifq was reserve, while Aisam won singles n then played brilliantly in the doubles, He is a good player compare to pakistani level of tennis, but u cud not compare him to US players at all
this is the first time that pak reach the final of asia-ociana. Now they will play against china.

Aisam-ul-Haq is definitely someone to watch out for. But I must say that he is taking a tad bit too long in showing the level of performance that he was supposed to be showing. Nonetheless best Pakistani player ever (?), way ahead of all the players in the current lot.
Nida Waseem represented Pakistan in junior wimbledon two yrs back when she was 14. Didn't do too well but like Aisam she too is a much better female player than any player in Pakistan history including the current lot (the Chishti sisters)
In the eighties a player named Farah something represented Pakistan (was not based in Pakistan at that time I guess) in the wimbledon. Did go unnoticed at that time and later stopped playing tennis.

Like do they have any ATP or Sattelite tournaments?

I dont think they have any ATP or Satellite Tournament in Pakistan. These tournaments are alloted by ITF to diff. depending on the performance of their players.
I agree. If they can raise the standard then they might get some touranaments which in turn will help local players to get some point and go ahead in ATP ranking.
Thsibrinsg up thsi new question...
Does anyone here knows what was the best ranking of any paksitani Player in ATP?
Like has anyone even moved under 500.

No pakistan have wom prev. to contries like srilanka, nepal n other countries of that level, many times making to the smeis of this group but cud not make to the final. This is the first time they reached the final. If they bt. china they will reach the next group.
Tennis is very expensive sports. lot of money is req. so most of the players r those who just start palying for fun or there parents wants some recongnition. n since only a few ppl r in the circuit so if they play for a few yrs. they definitly gonna get known in small ckt. of tennis.
Tbis guy, aisam's mother was her self a tennis player. They made a record by paritcipating in davis cup in the same yr. also i think he learn more coz he got chance to play in tourneys out side pakistan.
I think any game req. approach n very very hard work, which these ameerzada's clearly lagging. so the situation will remain same unless the base of tennis is not widened.

Thank for sharing and I agree that still Tennis is a game of rich people in subcontinent and is not reaching to common people.
But what I dont agree is Stereotyping ameeradaz as those who dont wana sweat.Infect these ameerzadas did will in squash.
Also for example India did managed to do very good in Deviz cup and all was done by ameerzadas.Take example of Ramanath,Akhter ali,Amritraj Brothers,Ramesh or even Leander .They all are Ameerzadas but they did very good.
Though none of Indian managed to win a Single' grand slam but they did managed to play Semis and Quarters. In double we won 5 or 6 grand slams. India's record in devis up has been extra ordinary. They consistantly played World group and been runners up 3 or 4 times.
So example is in backyard..I guess what needs to be done is invest some money and put in there.get them good coaches and letting the people know that there is more than Cricket in this world.
I hope better sense previals.
Unka Jo Kaam hai Ahl-e-Siyasat Jaane,
Apna paigam muhabbat hai ,jahan tak pahuche
U r rite, atleast the game is in existance due to these ameerzadas. I m not giving blame to them. As every one has a rite to avail the opportunities available toi them.
I mean to say that since the grass root level is not so broad as cricket or hockey that is y we dont have any superstars in tehse games.
