Tendular has no doubt scored a lot more runs than other two, but, i have seen that when it comes to pressure situation or taking the team all the way to victory or to save a test, its often Laxman or Dravid that do the job.
Re: Tendulkar Vs Laxman/Dravid
Icon.. there might be some truth in it but I feel it's mainly the fact that SRT has played sooooooooooo many games and so much is expected from him that his failed innings in pressure situations stick in your mind longer..
Laxman is however the king of pressure situations... Amazing calm and composure..
Re: Tendulkar Vs Laxman/Dravid
Tendulkar scored 49 Test hundreds. Dravid made 30 Test hundreds. The difference is 19.
if you make only 19 Test hundreds, you would still be considered as great world class batsman.

Re: Tendulkar Vs Laxman/Dravid
Ur right Tendulkar just playing for records now
Laxman is under rated and so as Dravid

Do you REALLY think that sachin is only playing for records now and doesnt want to win games for India? thats what you make it sound like!
lax and dravid both have been underrated though a little.. for sure.. cuz they have somebody like sachin in their team all their careers...
dravid is slowing down though... i wouldve played pujara in this game for sure given his performance against the aussies..
laxman is still going strong though!

Tendulkar plays for records and if India wins in the process that is a huge plus. This is what every other cricket will secretly admit to. I do not remember many instances when Sachin played in pressure situations and won the game for India.

Wow. What a joke. You actually believe that SRT playing for India for 21 yrs now only cares about his records.. and agar India jeet gayi to theek hai varna nai.
How many times has he looked super disappointed after making a 100 but having lost the match? How many times has he been rolling around like a lil kid with joy when the other batters in the middle have sealed a tense win after SRT failed himself? And for the record.. he has won enough pressure games for India. Maybe not as many as India would like but of course India expects wayy too much from him.
"this is what every cricket fan/player will secretly admit to" - What exactly are you basing this upon? Any logic behind this bold assumption of what every cricket fan/player SECRETLY thinks?
Take off the blinkers.

There are rarely pressure situations when sachin scores hundreds. The victory is mostly a comfortable trot.
You cannot blame him for that. The position in which laxman bats ensures that a lot of his batting is done with tailenders. This has a lot to do with why his hundreds are in pressure situations.

That's a good point too. I am not an expert on Statsguru but I'm sure you can run a lil report showing you what percentage of games where he has scored 100s has India won.
Even if lets say SRT does NOT perform under high pressure and Dravid and Laxman do a better job ....(I don't agree... but for the sake of argument)... concluding that the reason is that he is only concerned about his records.. is absolutely ridiculous.

Just because he looks disappointed after India wins inspite of having scored a century makes you believe that he wants India to win. Good for you. Good for your thinking process..
I know that you are not a Stats guru, but you would remember a test match when Rahul Dravid declared when Sachin was nearing a century. Also I am sure that you wont remember his reaction after Rahul declared. Just goes to show how much he wanted the country to win.

I remember a quote from Kris Srikanth to that effect. Dont ask me to give you a link. I heard this in an interview long time ago..
Re: Tendulkar Vs Laxman/Dravid
Sachin has scored 16k runs in ODI 45 centuries but has never won an ICC tournament for India
Re: Tendulkar Vs Laxman/Dravid
I agree with the general sentinment in this thread.
While nobody is disputing that Tendulkar is a great batsman (49 centuries - how can anybody disagree) , but lets face it...he is a "fair weather batsman".
He is not the batsman you can look up to as a potential "savior" when the score is 52/5. He is more likely to come in at 140/2 and score a century.
With due respect to Tendulkar's batting genius - it is amazing that in a career spanning 21 years , he has rarely played an innings that pulled India out from a hole and won the game (something which lesser batsmen like - Kallis, Steve Waugh etc - have done so many times).

Being disappointed of not scoring the 100 is not = to not wanting India to win.

Partly agreed there. While he played many innings where India has been in trouble and he's brought them back.. perhaps not many where India have been completely down and out and he's won it..
All of this still doesn't mean that he doesnt care about winning and is only concerned about his records.. that's just ridiculous.

When faced with the option of scoring a century and chances of India winning he made his choice clear. What else..
