Tendulkar blow for India](BBC SPORT | Cricket | Tendulkar to miss Trophy)
Sachin Tendulkar will miss the three-match prelude to the ICC Champions Trophy in England with tennis elbow.
India’s star batsman will be unable to play in the NatWest Challenge against England having also missed the brief one-day tournament in the Netherlands.
India practised at Nottingham on Sunday but Tendulkar was unable to bat, although he did bowl some leg-breaks.
He is unfit for the series starting on 1 September but is not expected to miss the Champions Trophy.
The brilliant right-hander will hope to recover in time for his next fitness test on 5 September.
India’s team manager Goutam Dasgupta said no replacement has been sought for Tendulkar.
After the series opener at Trent Bridge, India play England in the second match at The Oval on 3 September and also at Lord’s on 5 September.
Their preparations were hit by rain in the Netherlands, as they lost to Pakistan in a shortened match before suffering an abandoned contest against Australia.
Consequently, they did not make the final in which Australia beat Pakistan in a game marred by controversial umpiring.
