India’s Sachin Tendulkar is set to appear as a superhero in a new range of comic books, animation and games.
The cricketing legend has linked up with Virgin Comics and his character will wear body armour and wield a flaming cricket bat.
Tendulkar holds the records for most Test centuries (35) and one-dayers (41) and most runs in one-dayers (14,783).
Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson said: “Sachin’s success is legendary and we are delighted to collaborate with him.”
The first Master Blaster comic book is expected to be released in June and proves that Tendulkar’s marketing appeal is undiminshed even though he has been an international sportsman since 1989.
He has benefitted from various big money sponsorship contracts over the years for products including luxury cars, tyres, credit cards, motorcycles, Tvs, energy and soft drinks, shoes and biscuits.
And two years ago had a stage musical about him called Main Sachin Tendulkar [Me Sachin Tendulkar].
So what makes someone who stands only 5ft 4ins tall the perfect super hero?
"Sachin’s unparallelled skill on the cricket field and his dynamic personality off it make for the raw elements of a great hero that will inspire kids all across the planet, " said Gotham Chopra, the company’s chief creative officer. Super villains, watch out!

Sachin sucks and only sucks and only sucks…records are his personal property like many other properties sucker has built in Mumbai…such sh**ts survive through media and media survives through them…can’t say anythig more…too much of Sachin suck since past few years!!

OK tell me past 3 years, when did Sachin play and India WON....remember the term TEAM WON!...1 time , 2 times, how many times...can we count it on fingers? Is that sufficent to justify his position in the team? agreed he is a legend...but he is also occupying a postion!

No one is perfect. Neither is Tendulkar, nevertheless he is a great player. After Sunil Gavaskar India produced really best batsman. The matter is not records the matter is performance & he is really good. As far as properties etc what u are talking or his character - thats his problem.
^ so you meant to say if Sachin is in the team so India should always win if Sachin scores 50 and other players do nothing so thats a fault of Sachin winning comes from whole team performance not only coz of Sachin, iwhen sachin is in the team nd India lose that match coz of him you can never prove this

I will never question Sachin's character, in fact I have been watching him since his days in Shardashram School in Dadar, Mumbai and when he used to play in Shivaji Park....however those days and present day are totally different, We also understand that his age and body is not the same as he was 10 years before....BUT what I am trying to highlight is his CONTRIBUTION WHEN TEAM WINS since last 3 years...and clealry one can notice the difference....He can still remain a legend if he dares to retire gracefully...No one is going to
write-off the personal records which he has made, if he choses to retire. But thing is that when a legend becomes a burden, someone has to make him realize and saddly enough "Powar"full Indian board is not doing this.
And, Yes...it's hard for any Indian player to give up fame, money and glamor which surrounds this game of Kirkit in India, and sadly Sachin is no exception!
NO at the moment problem is NOT that Sachin contributes towards Win, because same like in past, his contributions are NOT going to fetch India a WIN, only it can further boost his statistics of record.
My problem is his position in the team…If Sachin doesnot chose to retire Indian board will find it extremely difficult to remove him than any other player like Sehwag.
So it’s only upto Sachin to decide whether he wants remain in the team living on his past…or would like to retire after World Cup? This is the situation which Sachin like any other persons, might try to exploit (or should I say he is already exploiting?)
Tendu is not perfect but he is far far away from being the best batsman in cricket these days. He probably can still contribute as number 4 for couple of years to Indian team.
I totally agree with the slowdown performance of Sachin ...seems after worldcup he will retire .....Once Gavaskar said about retirement of cricket player " Before they asking when they should ask Why is the best time for retirement.
he scored a 100 against west indies recently, coming at like 5 or 6 against west indies, blasted his way thro
dude has been getting 40-50-60 runs almost every match, gets wickets here and there whenever he gets the chance to bowl
i dont know where all the criticism comes from, but i guess it comes along with stature like him
great player, and india is a better team with him
