Someone I know wants to rent out the basement of their house. The potential tenants are engaged (not married) and are having a baby soon. Is it ok for him to rent it out to them knowing that they are and will be having pre-marital relationship? He is unsure if it is considered as if he is allowing this relationship to happen in his property. Can he put a condition (legally) of them getting married?
If the owner is living in west, he cannot put a legal clause for these particular tenants. He however can put a clause in his general lease agreement that property is only available to rent for registered families and not available for people who are not related to each other (room mate situation).
Will he be taking part in a sin if he allows them to rent his property is a million dollar question. I am not sure if know the answer. But for the argument sake, lets say that couple gets married before moving in, but then they started drinking Alcohol in the house. If the owner does not kick them out for that, would he be taking part in the sin?
Basic Islamic principle is that everybody is responsible for their own actions and answerable for them.
As long as you are not a facilitator of anybody's sins how can you be held responsible for it.
If a tenant murders someone in your basement , are you an accessory to the crime ? Should you also be put in jail ?
Allah is much more logical than we the humans. Draw your own conclusion now.

Wasalam,
I think above, the TLK's reply is very simple and perfect answer.
Just for chitchat, You opened this thread in religion forum and I think you are seeking Islamic viewpoint on it. So once you came to know that your tenant is drinker, murderer or a durg-dealer etc., and the source of his/her income (rent money) is not clean, than you may kick him/her out and find a new tenant. By knowing that the tenant is not nobleman and still renting him in is not a wise-choice.
