Ten reasons why Ijaz Butt should be asked to quit

**Ijaz Butt was a dependable batsman and more than capable wicketkeeper who made his Test debut against West Indies in 1958-59 as an opener, scoring 41 not out in a ten-wicket win…

This is how the current Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman’s brief profile describes his career as a young and budding cricketer in the fifties.

‘The News on Sunday’ underlines ten reasons why Butt has failed as PCB chief.

  1. Old is not gold

  2. Times are tough and we need a ‘wartime consiglieri’

  3. Too much controversy is not a good thing

  4. Lack of consistency and too many U-turns

  5. He got the job because of his political connections?

  6. He doesn’t have what it takes to help avert a crisis

  7. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link (Similarly a leader is only as good as the weakest member of his team. )

  8. His failure to deal with criticism

  9. He doesn’t even have a proper game plan

  10. The PCB chief is taking our cricket nowhere

Re: Ten reasons why Ijaz Butt should be asked to quit

One reason should have been enough for any self-respecting person:

PCB women’s wing advisor sacked after YouTube scandal

I think not only Ijaz Butt but also Saleem Altaf Bokhari should go. Altaf may be the brother of famous TV personality Naeem Bokhari but that is not a good enough reason to retain him in his current job. Both Butt and Altaf have inflated egos and they don't seem very good at handling criticism or anything.

Re: Ten reasons why Ijaz Butt should be asked to quit

I second GoldenAsif. If someone has to go, it should be Saleem Altaf. He is one guy who is there for all administrations..he has hand in all failures and every time he comes out with a lame excuse "oh I was in the old admin but I did not have any powers" ......he has been center of many in-house controversies. I wonder who is at his back ....
