Islamic economic system is the greatest. It does not reduce a society into a minority ruling class that seeks to exploit the under priveled working class. We collect zakat to help the poor, while in decadent capitalist societies the poor are exploited by the rich and treated as taxable livestock units in there cold humanless drive for a greater bottom line.

Can you tell where are they using this system in the world?

Capitalism, at least as practiced in the States, makes the middle class work harder and harder for lesser and lesser while the executives make inexorbitant amounts with no consequence.

Our oligarchies have Princes and wadairas, they have CEOs. Both fly around in private jets, heave political influence and run affairs to make things better for themselves at the expense of others. Tweedle dee and tweedle dum.

Of course but Islamic economic system is not a straightforward thing, it is just a series of principles that allow you integrate it into other systems, perhaps you would realize that Islam is most accomodating to capitalism, just not in the Darwininan sense practiced in the US>

Incorrect, when a country (esp of opposing religion) is defeated the conquerer replaces (or used to) the old system by their own system. Mind you, the reason of downfall of "Muslim empire" was not due to failure of fiscal system but the morals.

You know I am a muslim but I have to ask to people proposing an Islamic Economic system, what is an Islamic economic system? There are vast differences between Islamic guidelines, principles and a fully functional system. We muslims need to stop ranting all the time about our religion without properly providing the correct perspective of it. For example, learning and educating one self is a cornerstone of a muslims life. It happened in our Prophet SAW time. However the educational system today is different than it was 1400 years ago. The principles should be the same and the final outcome should be the same that we educate people for the sake of Allah and the progress of humanity however the system used to achieve that varies from place to place and time to time. We didn't have university systems, degrees and research programs 1400 years as we do now. Islam teaches you the principle on which you should setup your system now not the infrastructure of how to implement it. Why do you think Allah blessed us with this brain so we can think and make things better within the limits and guidelines Allah has provided us. Its simply not enough to say that the Zakat system takes home the trophy. We know how we are supposed to distribute Zakat money and to whom and how much is collected and on what goods but where is our system thats is implementing these requirements or principles. How flawlessly are we doing it. Its easy to implement it if you have a sample of say 50 people living in a 1 mile radius but your system for doing the same thing will change when your sample size is 100,000 people living in a 1000 mile radius. This is where most of our Islamic governments lack, we have the golden principles prescribed but Allah but we have not done anything to implement them as flawlessly as possible.

What is the alternative !!! Some of the posters here would scream Islamic form of government. Well that was a system that was tried (a big question mark) and discarded. If it iwas not tried why do we still dont have a single government which professes the pure islamic form of government. True capitalism might not be the ideal form of govt, but is the best available. If we give a free reign to the market forces with minimal govt intervention, the markets would evolve and form a stable force. Socialism has been tried and has failed miserably.

Mullah's talk of Muslim economic system is like the guy who shows up at the auto-show. So there are cars by Honda, GM, Toyota, Ford, BMW etc. etc. Everyone is appreciating the new technology, the working technology and the one that may come in future.

However this bearded guy refuses to accept the car designs.

He insists that the design that existed 1000 years ago was the best. All these new designs are "Bidaa" (new and hence bad) things. These cars go too fast, so they kill people. These cars have a back seat where young people commit sin. So all new cars are bad. Only Islamic design is the best.

So people say, but 1000 years ago internal combustion engine didn't exist. The Mullah replies, well read Quran and Hadis, everything including IC engines, and turbines are in there.

So people say, where in Quran? He says learn Arabic first and then you will know where.

Finally the Mullah becomes agitated due to all these questions. He accuses everyone of blasphemy, and threatens to shoot every one. The auto show people call the police and kick him out.

p.s. there is a second part of the story that will come later. However if you are really dying to hear what happened to the Mullah. Then read the saga of confession-then-retraction of Mouse-Moussavi.

Please spare us the lecture on systems and history, mucho gracias. There were no universities in start, I agree, but later on universities did prop up, education system was in place. If you want to talk about Islamic fiscal system, please feel free to open a thread in Religion forum. No body is saying that you clone the system that was 1400 years ago, rather learn from it and implement it.

ahem ahem, your conclusions are incorrect. Read history again. The decline of Muslim rule was not because of fiscal/economy system, but because it had turned into "Kingdom" i.e. decline of moral values/faith etc. Do you read and understand that? I hope so.

Decline is a complicated process. Could be morals, could be Mullahs. However the issue is that Islamic economic system of Ummayas, Abbasis, Moors, or Ottomans is not relevant anymore, just like the use of bullocks, and camel caravans.

So either lead (which you can't), or follow (which you won't), so get out of the way.

Otherwise you will be sitting in the middle of the road like so many bidduins. Chances are that the cattle, or tribal people sitting in the middle of the road do get run over by the 18 wheelers.
