Career Highlights: Pakistan’s team captain is considered one of the greatest batsmen in the world. In 1992, he scored 60 in 37 balls against New Zealand in the semifinal of the World Cup to almost single-handedly win the match for his national squad. He also scored the 12th highest score by a batsman (329) against New Zealand in Lehore for a Test match in 2001-02.
So, why are his opponents so scared of him? Inzaman is an absolute giant in the cricket world. After a win over England in 2000, teammate Waqar Younis said of Inzaman-ul-Haq, “We worked really hard. Especially Inzy; he’s probably the best player in the world at the moment.” But, “Inzy’s” style is quite unique. Not exactly the symbol for fitness in the sport, the hefty batsman is known for a surprisingly soft touch. Think David Ortiz as a slap singles hitter. Nearly impossible to get out, the thought of Inzaman-ul-Haq keeps opposing bowlers up late at night.
Seriously, if I have to pick a Pakistani, I would pick AFRIDI ahead of Inzi. Now, he is the guy who has the potential to turn any match on the head with his explosive batting....or come to think of it ...even AKHTAR...considering how destructive he can be with his fast chucking.
Although I do agree with f&b on this one. Inzimam no doubt one of the best batsmen in world cricket today but I certainly wont say he is the most feared by other temas.
The one reason that list is so flawed is cause Tyson sits on top of the list. First Tyson has retired and if we are talking about an all time list that there are so many people who should be included in this list. Roger Federer is #9 on this list. Comeone now the two people who come closest to him are probably Roddick and Hewitt and even they dont stand a chance agaisnt Federer.
How about Tiger Woods or Vijay Singh. Heck I'd put Bret Favre over some video game player. Anyway too many names in too many sports come to mind which kinda makes me think that the list is BS.
I think the article is talking about in the sense of head to head. Altough Tendulkar might crack the list but I think Inzi is the best choice because of his size. Nobody wanna mess with him or front him. He is not only a great cricketer but also very very good and hard hitter. I am so happy to see him in this list at #3. This guy has made us proud since '92 WC semi-final, Imran Khan called him the 'best bastmen in the world' and no wonder he is. Great man, great cricketer and a Proud Pakistani.
Lo jee...... becharayy Indian bros keee raat kee neend haram ho jayaee gee......wait for some more constipated posts from indians.....as a matter of fact, if any pakistani gets international recognition, indians will start jumping all over like someone has stepped over a dog's tail (jaisaee kisssie nay kuttay kee dum pay pair rakh daya ho)...but i have total sympathy for indians and i can totally understand the reason for their frustation.. with a population of over a billion and yet scarcity of international personalities to such an extent would certainly turn any group of people into a bunch of frustated psychos.......I just feel sorry for them from bottom of my heart.....
Such pedestrian comments was not expected from you.
Anybody with a modicum of cricketing brain would know that Inzimam is not the most feared cricketer in the world, much less the most feared sports person in the league of Mike Tyson.
There is a huge difference between being the “most feared” and being a “very good” player. Like I said above , Afridi or Akhtar may have fit the bill, but not Inzimam. This has got nothing to do with India/Pakistan, just plain common sense.
