Ten people were killed when an electric cable fell on a bus in the southern Nigerian oil city of Port Harcourt and electrocuted passengers, police say.“Twelve others who went to assist the victims suffered severe burns”, Rivers State police spokeswoman Rita Abbey told the AFP news agency.
An Associated Press cameraman saw 10 bodies charred beyond recognition at a local hospital.
Ms Abbey said the injured had been hospitalised.
Police were unable to confirm how many people had been aboard the bus and how many survived the accident.
