thank you. the green stones are pretty sparse, more visible in person than in the photo -- they were in the centre of those circle-patterns on the border of the dupatta and the jacket.
Re: Tell us the story of your bridal jora!
I really like your outfit burdie. Was it from Pakistan?

I can tell those are a different color. Goes nicely with your jewelry.
Re: Tell us the story of your bridal jora!
I wore a saree at all my wedding functions. I had a fixed idea in my mind about the kind of saree that I wanted to wear at the main wedding rituals. One day my MIL was out shopping for other stuff and she saw this saree that seemed to fit what I wanted. She called me from the store and told me to come there quickly. I saw the saree and fell in love! 5 mins and we were out of there with the saree, grinning ear to ear.
Here’s what it looked like except it’s a dark orange instead of green, and there’s less gold on the pallu

Re: Tell us the story of your bridal jora!
Because of work, I couldn't go shopping to Pakistan something I thought I would always do when I got married. So my SIL decided that she would just send them to me. I was really nervous because the fate of my bridal jora's (both Baraat and Valima) were in the hands of my SIL. She really wanted to make them as its a tradition in the family to have both dresses come from the boys side. It was bitter sweet as my FIL passed away over a year ago before our wedding and MIL passed a long time before that. But they were there in spirit for sure :) I think those remember me during my wedding definitely knew how stressed out I was but it all worked out in the end. My hubby doesn't really have a family besides his sister but its OK because he's apart of mine which is massive. I learned just to appreciate for who people are and what they bring to our relationship.
For the baraat she went with Deepak Parwani and it was red and the sharara had navy blue and purple on it. The Valima colors were a pista green and maroon. I abosultely loved loved my Valima outfit. My Baraat outfit was definitely really cool but the only thing I would change would be the cut of the shirt which was just a standard sharara shirt. I wanted to have more of a gown type so it would flatter my body time better. However, it worked out in the end. I also got some heirloom jewelry that belonged to my MIL and it just made the wedding even more special. Even though she couldn't be there, I have something of hers that made her apart of my wedding:)

Re: Tell us the story of your bridal jora!
Nikah: My Nikah was done in Feb 2012. As we only had about 6 weeks to plan for a whole thing I didn't have time to get anything from Pakistan..so we went shopping in Birmingham and fell in love with this dress at KHUSHBOO'S on ladypool rd. Had it made with a few alterations. it was a open front gown thing in a very light peachy pink colour with a brocade maxi under it and silver Kaam on it. Long sheer net sleeves and sheer net dupatta.
The rest of shaadi was in Sept 2012.
Mayon my friend (who came all the way from Pakistan) got me a plain yellow long shirt with churidar with gota on daman and sleeves and green chiffon jamawar dupatta.
Mehndi I wore Maria B outfit. no alterations made, ordered it just how I saw it on the Ramp. it's a panelled slightly A-line shirt in magenta and darkblue with a yellow dupatta and a green and blue rajhistani lehnga.
Barat was the most difficult. I kept looking everywhere online and offline but didn't see anything I liked. I couldn't go Pakistan coz of work and didn't like anything here. so finally decided to design own thiNg. I am terrible at sketching/drawing but I had a pretty good idea in my head of what I wanted. anyways in the end I managed a sort of sketch, which was extensively labelled with every single little detail I wanted. I had that all sent across to my best friend who then got it made from Shazia's Bridal Gallery in Chaklala scheme 3. when the dress came, all made, it was EXACTLY how I had it in my head.
it was a dark maroonish red top, angrakha style but very flary and tailed at the back (angrakha meets anarkali sort of thing) with dupatta in the same color (four side border, one side heavier than other three) and orange lenhga again with a tail. there was a huge motif at the front and back of lehnga. Overall It looked stunning (at least to me) and I loved how I looked that day. it's stilly favourite :-).
Valima I wore an outfit by shazia bridal gallery, it was their design except I turned it into a maxi and added a tail
it was gray, blue and navy blue. Totally gorgeous and again I loved how I looked on valima day. took me forever to choose but it was worth it in the end.
p.s. I don't know how to post pics :-S

Mayun: since my dad is a fashion designer, he made it for me.this was made in 1 day.
My mehndi and barat dress went through a tragedy :( my dad was making them for me but they got burned in a fire. We didn't have enough time so one of my uncle got 2 lehngas from India. Since there shirts were really tiny my dad made new shirts for me.
