My boss is 3 hours flight away from here (in Spain). We just have a bi-weekly phone call to update each other on the status of our projects. If necessary for certain projects the interval between those calls would be shorter though.
And twice a year we would actually meet each other in the regional team meetings.

My immediate boss (sits 4 chairs to my left) is a female less than 30 or maybe just above 30, and an MBA from a local college :)
She's also a part time DJ on a local FM channel.
She's a great boss. Efficient. Cooperative. Professional. And the best thing: Just. Gives credit when its due and provides critcism when necessary and has a practical approach towards things. Doesn't pick on her subordinates unneccessarily as many people do.
I think her only shortcoming is she can get moody sometimes but that doesn't happen regularly.
In the beginning it took me some time to get used to her temperament but we now have quite a good relationship.

Yes. I’m still working for the same company and still in Vienna, but in a different department now. However my immediate boss is located in Madrid. My new job is much more international and requires occasional travel to different European cities.
In January for example I was in Madrid (to visit my boss 
) and in Brussels.
In March I’ll to go to Zurich for a few days (technical meeting there).

i have two bosses.. one is 63 and the poor man is in and out of hospitals these days.. nicest guy..
the other is gay.. 4 and a half years ago he was a complete crackpot, he'd throw hissy fits, get all red, slam doors and what not... we reckon he went to anger management classes... hes bit better now... i think

well, no but i suffer discrimination. i was told by my two bosses in two different sections in the same company. “you are an expat” when i told them that i deserved a promotion!!! they are intimidated by me… HA HA HA HA HA… they need to remove those towels and let some fresh air through their heads!!!

first one said clearly, "promotion is not for you. it is for locals." the other boss was a little polite so he said, "do you want me to be honest and tell you something off the record?" i said yes then he said, "you have a hurdle to fight. you are an expat."
