My favourite Dahl books are, The Twits, Witches, Matilda, The BLG, and James and the Giant Peach.
I saw a preview for the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie with Johnny Depp. He looks a bit scary. I liked the original movie. I hope this new one will be good.

Hmm Dan Brown wrote this book.. its pretty interesting dont wanna tell you the whole story.. Its pretty grabbing from the beginning, your actually trying to figure out the code.. Read it and see .
It's an old classic, but still worth a read. What I really found interesing about the book was tha Kipling was someone who supported colonialism, but his book is far more fascinating than E.M. Forster's A Passage to India.
City Of Djinns William Dalrymple
The Age of Kali William Dalrymple
Needless to say, Dalrymple is the latest addition to my most favourite writers.
I just read The Twits again...and oh my goodness, its so rude, disgusting, vile and inappropriate for children. I think im going to use on my next teaching practice :D
Has anyone read Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman?
Hiccup, it took me a while to get into Memoirs of a Geisha as well... I must have started and left that book at least three times...but once I was ready...that book was just stunning..so I really hope you dont give up on the book!!! Its really captivating that an Enlgish author could so perfectly capture the mood in Japan, much like the Japanese author who wrote Remains of the Day....
Udaasaankhein, yeah those are both Kamila's books... both very different but dealing with the same elements of "unexplainable desi relationships"....
I am currently reading Tariq Ali's quartet of novels about the confrontation between Chrisitanity and Islam....really amazing works....every story is quite elaborate... I definately reccommend...
