wats the point in having a thread with 200+ pages?? pointless waste of resources! that too a thread by a moderator …

cant we just have a limit of pages .. coz obviosly threads above 5 pages go COMPLETELY out of topic. Such threads are usually closed in other forums, so why Cafe? Just wondering.
Some members consider it a matter of prestige to continue a thread past 1,000 replies. In prior version of GUPSHUP, we did not allow topics to go so long, because it caused indexing issues. In this version, although we don't have this problem, but the thread will be closed sooner or later.
The thread you mentioned, does not serve any discussion purpose anyway. It is merely chit chat amongst friends. If not this thread, then they will open new threads. Either way is fine. The thread will be closed if and when it starts creating technical issues.

Dude, Cafe topics rarely have ANY topic. Its all chit chat, so the question of going off-topic does not arise in Cafe. Rest of the forums are something else. Most have discussion value ‘topics’ in them

Cafe is for chit chat. We don't expect it to be anything else. If it were a topical discussion, it will be moved to General. ;~)
