Food there is plenty.. What about sight seeing. I just googled CNE after KKF mentioned it. Worth going to or no?? What else is there to see?? Lake Ontario/Lakeshore?? Is that considered sight seeing? How is parking in Downtown? expensive, easy to find?
LOL.....yeah.....Webster Falls is great......total desi hangout......might have some difficulty going up and down the treacherous climb with a 4 month old.....
Get hotel near 401/Dixie - You will be able to navigate to both ends of the city in equal time. Most of the desi food places will be in your reach to. This area being near to Toronto Airport, you will be able to get good deal in good quality hotel.
Places to see depends on your interest and time you will have for sight seeing. Anyone who is visiting Toronto, do visit (and should visit) Niagara Falls. For that buy Adventure Pass that includes multiple attractions and unlimited bus ride. Other than that I’d suggest visiting CN Tower, Science Center, Zoo etc. For that you can buy City Pass . Buying these Passes will save you money. Other than these places you can visit Ontario Place, Center island, Wonderland and Marine-land.
If you are taking a hotel around 401/dixie you will have unlimited halal choices but even if you are not at the hotel at the time of dinner, most of the places you can always find Pizza Pizza (cheese pizza only), Popeyes chiken (ask to make sure if they are halal one), Hero Burger (again ask) or might be some halal restaurant.
and finally dont get all carried away with the stories about Gerrad Street that you might have heard. Food there is pathetic except for 1-2 restaurants and NO you should not live anyway near Gerrad Street.
While you are in toronto dont, i repeat DO NOT forget to treat yourself with dinner at Bamiyan Kabob and Kara Mia
pretty much all the places have been mentioned here i can't stress on bamiyan kebob enough...the food is amazing and clean...
if you like Malaysian/Indonesian food and up for bit of drive uptown then then i would recommend Restoran Malaysia in Richmond hill they have amazing food.
if you want showarma/arab verity then try arab restaurants on lawrence and warden.
I know you mentioned desi food but these places could be worth trying if you are craving halal food that is non-desi
Having a terrible time finding a hotel. Is Toronto Airport good area to find hotels? I don't know how far everything is from there. Airport hotels is what I have narrowed down to (I don't know any other place I can stay, NO CLUE).
Yeah I figured it out. Booked a hotel around Airport.
**good but airport is too far from all the attractions and it will take 90 min to get to downtown by public transportation. driving will be expensive as well due to expensive parking in the core.
don't forget to buy *Family Pass for the day from TTC* [Toronto Transit Commission] that allows 2 adults and up to 3 children unlimited rides on it's buses, subways and street cars.**
