Tell me about جان بحق (jaan bahaq)

How is this different from chal basse or faut ho jaana? What are the nuances?

Re: Tell me about جان بحق (jaan bahaq)

JaaN bahaq is mostly used in the case of an accidental death …

Re: Tell me about جان بحق (jaan bahaq)

Hmmn. It was in a headline about the assassination of Salman Taseer…

Re: Tell me about جان بحق (jaan bahaq)

there is no difference in the meaning…word faut comes from the word wafaat and marg are the actual words meaning DEATH while “jaaN-ba-Haq” [jaaN=life, ba=to/with. Haq=God…life to God=life returning to God Almighty] and “chal basnaa” [transfered to another world] are implied words to mean death…there are other words “Rabb-e-Haqeeqii se jaa milnaa”, “intiqaal farmaa jaanaa”, “dunyaa se ruKhsat honaa”, “reHlat darmaa jaanaa”, etc…all mean DEATH…it’s just the linguistic finesse…that’s all!

Re: Tell me about جان بحق (jaan bahaq)

yup jaan bahaq is usually used in accidental deaths.

so yeah in taseer’s case it is right. “salman taseer goli lagne se jaan-bahaq ho gaye”

Re: Tell me about جان بحق (jaan bahaq)

I thought jaan bahaq ho jana jaisay kisi ney maar diyaa yaa achanak faut ho jaana

Re: Tell me about جان بحق (jaan bahaq)

are nahiiN baba…koi bistar-e-marg pe mare to bhi kahte haiN k vaalid saaHab jaaN ba Haq ho gaye…ya’nii apne Allah/Khaaliq se jaa mile…jaise angrezii meN kahte haiN … he passed away…he passed on… it’s just the linguistic finesse

Re: Tell me about جان بحق (jaan bahaq)

OK :cb: Lagta hia mein ney urdu class mein nahi parhi

Re: Tell me about جان بحق (jaan bahaq)

Is there a nukta in the noon of jaan in jaan bahaq, or no? Is it جان or جاں?

Re: Tell me about جان بحق (jaan bahaq)

**no noqta…**جاں

Re: Tell me about جان بحق (jaan bahaq)

Thanks!

Re: Tell me about جان بحق (jaan bahaq)

**welcome…

…there are TWO different words that sound similar with totally different meanings…

-nuktah نکتہ ] = deep thought, fine point, critical point
-nuq’tah نقطہ ] ****= point, dot, centre

urdu meN aise hii saikaRoN alfaaz haiN.**
