Does anyone here know anything about telescopes? I want to buy one for my neice who is turning 8 in two weeks. I found one at ToysrUs which comes with a microscope but its really low priced and Im not sure if its even worth giving. http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2307561&cp=&sr=1&f=Taxonomy%2FTRUS%2F2254197&origkw=telescope&kw=telescope&parentPage=search
is this even any good? again its only for an 8 yr old. Or should I buy a more advanced one? which one? If you have read this far just click on the next link too and help me out, pretty please.

Re: Telescopes
hmm...get a simple one first but personaly the galilieo ones are very good i bought one myself and its nice and clear and its really beautiful when theres no clouds...lol
but yeah galilieo....thats the one.........
Re: Telescopes
Get the one with the microscope and such. She doesnt really need anything more expensive. And it would be a waste if she uses the telescope for a few months/years and after that looses interest. So the simple one will be good enough for her for the next few years. In a clear night she should be able to see the saturnring /halo from earth
Re: Telescopes
why are both of you laughing
so I guess it is ok to go with the one made for kids then. I just didn’t want it to be a lousy one where you can’t even see the stars properly but if they have it specially for kids between 8-11 then it must be good enough
Thank you guys.
Re: Telescopes
actually I just read the reviews for the kiddy telescope, something I should have done FIRST! looks like it sucks
Re: Telescopes
Go with one in the $80-100 range for a starter telescope, anything less would be sucky, anything more would be a waste if just ends up in a closet corner.
