Telephone Banking Specialist jobs

I’ve been getting calls for a few of these and am wondering if they are worthwhile? The hours are a bit odd, they do provide training, but I was wondering what the chances are like getting promoted from these positions … I dont really have a desire to sit on the phone assisting people, but if its a good place to start, I wouldnt mind. Any ideas?

Catty, I thought that you did your studies something in international relations ?

Are these jobs in a bank? Like in a call center of a bank or is it a job where you do support for some products ect..?

Re: Telephone Banking Specialist jobs

cattie,

most of the times these jobs are for basic highschool grads I believe.
what you have to balance is

1) it can be a foot in the door for you- but is it taking you to a a starting point lower than where you should be? are there other opportunities out there?

2) what is more productive use of your time, getting this job, looking for other jobs on the side and trying to move up, or not take this job and have the freedom and time to look for other jobs?

3) what is the job market like, would you sit out there and not get anything?

4) if you cant find anything for sometime are u in a position that you must have a job. I mean for ppl with families and all it may be one thing but for a fres college grad its probably not as constraining.

I think the job is sort of a mix between customer services and sales.

It's hard to say whether to go for it or not... It all depends on what you want at the end of the day...
