Telepathy... is it a reality? A real life example..

Hi all,

Quite recently, i came to know about a person who can read thoughts of other people in front of him. I haven’t personally met him but this what many people testified that he correctly predicted what was in their minds when they met him. Well, he claims that source of this knowledge for him is Allah. I dont know whats the truth. But the moment i heard this, i remembered the term “Telepathy”, commonly used as theme in science fiction novels and movies. Does any body here knows if “telepathy” does really exist and there are people who know this art?

Its BS.

lol ... yes in Hollywood movies, it is a reality.

We do send messages subconsciously, in our body language, tone, facial expressions etc. People are quite adept at picking up on these things. In fact, we have what are called 'mirror neurons' that help us experience what the other person is experiencing. However, there is nothing supernatural/allah involved in that. It's simply evolution of a species wherein social contact and cohesion was highly important.

Peace Doc

So you feel this person has moved to the next evolutionary stage in his telepathy, but at the same time you are suggesting that his faith in Allah (SWT) is a result in his unevolved state of thinking outside the need for a Creator?

Of course I'm by no means suggesting this man is real or the story for that matter, but it is interesting to see how you think in response to this question.

My response addresses the deeper question of communication WITHOUT resorting to pseudoscience or science fiction (aka religion).

Those that envision telepathy usually picture "speaking" into the mind of another without verbalizing those words. What would that version of telepathy entail? Given the knowledge we have of how the brain works, this means we would have to directly induce an electric current at a variable distance, targeting precisely certain networks and cells without hitting others. Why would we evolve that incredibly complicated trait when it has such limited utility? Merely to create the illusion of speech? nonsense.

But the utility of subtle communication has been harnessed quite effectively through other ways i mentioned. We can convey incredibly complex ideas and emotions through body language and tone - often purposefully targeting someone.
