teething at 3 months?

is it possible?

My 13 weeks old baby is gnawing on his hand(full fist inside his mouth), not only trying to suck thumb but actually biting, drooling a lot, touching his ears and just overall fussy. He is otherwise a very happy baby.. could he be teething?

I will call his doc on Monday but I plan to get a teether for him today. What else can I do in the meantime to see if he is actually teething or not?

Re: teething at 3 months?

You might try to feel his gums. They feel hard than usual. And if you palpate them slowly and there is tooth about to cut through you might actually feel it before you see it.
Although it is early but it is not impossible for them to start teething at 3 months.

Re: teething at 3 months?

Yes it can happen. I thought my baby was going to get his teeth really early too ( he was Doing what yours is doing), so I asked a dentist friend, she said some baby r born with a tooth :o but if they come out early, they won't be really strong.

But my little ones has come in yet...he is 5 months & 11 day mA...so let's see.

Re: teething at 3 months?

at 3 months mostly gums start getting harder after that teething starts n before teeth is showing u can feel it wth ur hand n u can c a lillte whity whity in gums but i have seen abies where teeths r coming in 3 or 4 months

Re: teething at 3 months?

evn though a tooth wont come through soon enuff, babiez.still feel the sensation of something goin on as early as 2 months..... So ya.... Its possible. Dont think a teether will help just yet unless ure baby has already mastered holding an object and coordinating it into its mouth....best is to let.him chew on his fist...its got all the hardness (bones) that he needs to massage his.gums.... Mine goes at it with a passion....fav teether. Hehe

also....there is this.massager u can by ...goes.over.ure.finger like a finger glove....with studs.on it..u can massage his gums with that...but beware...its addictive...he teeths independantly right.now....massager ka chuska per gaya tho he will ojly want ure finger.massage.

Re: teething at 3 months?

It is possible, my little boy was an early teether too.
The teething process itself can take a while for the teeth to cut through.

Re: teething at 3 months?

Imagine teething from 2 months...and popping ure first tooth at 15 months!!!!!

O U C H

My sil's son did this with severe constipation for all those months..... Its every mother's nightmare.... I got off reallly easy with midget mashallah...hope the luck carries on with genie :fingers and toes crossed and hair in a braid! :

Re: teething at 3 months?

ok so I put my finger inside his mouth and boy did he find relief or what!!

I felt something sharp in the back of lower gums and I see white teeth in the front gums. does that how it begins? I have never felt hsi gums from inside so I dont if its anything different or what!

and he didnt suck on my finger, instead wanted me to massage his gums and was very happy with that.. I thought he may gag but not at all!

Re: teething at 3 months?

oh wow! mA! mine just got his first tooth last week at almost 8 months old but he was teething for a few months before. same symptoms as yours- drooling, eating everything, etc.

if you can feel something sharp though, that sounds like a little tooth poking through already. i could see those "white teeth" too but i don't think they are teeth? mine had super puffy reddish gums the last month before his tooth finally poked through and then they got all solid and kind of shrunk down so the puffiness was gone and a few days after that i noticed something white as i was giving him his breakfast. so cute!

Re: teething at 3 months?

My twins are also eight months now with all the signs of teething, but no tooth yet :(

Re: teething at 3 months?

my friend's baby's tooth appeared at 2 months, so yes it's possible.

I felt Bunny started teething at 3 months, displaying the same behavior you described. But the tooth did not appear till 7.5 months.

Re: teething at 3 months?

So his gums are not red or swollen except at one spot on the bottom that he is sensitive to touch. I am not sure exactly what's going on so guess it will be a safe idea to just let him take to his doc and see what it is..if it's teething for sure,I really hope n pray it's easy for him.

Sahar.. Did you do anything in all those months?

Re: teething at 3 months?

I tried the baby Orajel occasionally. Did not help, I feel.

If she seemed to be in a lot of pain (and this was later on when we noticed some swelling), and was having trouble sleeping, we would give her baby Motrin. Other than that, nothing really helped. I have heard, but didn't successfully try, putting a clean, cold washcloth in their mouths to chew on helps a lot.

Re: teething at 3 months?

^ mine rejected that idea entirely. he just waves it around in his hands and slaps it on all his toys lol.
what worked for him was one of those teething pacifiers that look like regular pacifiers. we put that in the fridge for about half an hour and sucking on that gave him relief.

Re: teething at 3 months?

i also used tht pacifiers but i used 2 give my baby bio21 it not only reduce irritation but no constipation no stomach upset no vomitting which is every commoin in teething

Re: teething at 3 months?

Mine never took any teethers or anything else. She just used to suck on her hands and fingers or a few of her toys.Fortunately teething was a easy thing for her and she never gave me any trouble.I had baby Orajel but never used it.
Get him a teether or a clean washcloth. If he likes it,let him chew on it.If he still wants to chew on his hands or fingers, let him do that too.Just make sure his hands are clean and nails trimmed, although with a 3 month old baby who stays where you put him, that should not be an issue and I am sure you already take care of that...:)

Re: teething at 3 months?

some babies are actually born with teeth... we have to pull those out before they leave the hospital... they do start teething around as early as 3 months.. typically the lower two come in between 6-9 months.. then top two after...

orajel is alright to try... try Teething Tablets- homeopathic ones.. alot of my patients parents swear by it. also if the infants can grasp a whole sized carrot- chilled & peeled (NOT BABY SIZED ONES) - give it to them to gnaw and suck on. the juice soothes the itching and coolness will numb the pain of the gums...

also teething hurts their ears alot too.. don't be surprised if they pull at their ears :( it isn't a fun time for the lil tykes

Re: teething at 3 months?

Whats better than hands? TOES

Re: teething at 3 months?

^ LOL … the best is when they are able to suck both big toes at the same time. :rotfl: Make sure you capture that on camera!

Re: teething at 3 months?
