Re: teeth are hurtingggggg
Ok, well firstly, you should visit your dentist to find out whether the grinding is causing any damage to the enamel of your teeth. Also, it's important to tell them about any other dental or facial symptoms you may have, especially waking with an aching jaw, or if you have noticed a clicking jaw joint.....
The causes.... well they vary... but stress plays a part in most cases. Also, there is a small liklihood that there is a problem with the top and bottom teeth coming together (occlusal discrepancy). If the grinding has been happening for some time now, then the teeth may even be ground down so far that they all fit together very well....... what is your 'bite' like? top teeth slightly forward over bottom teeth, or top directly over bottom?
As for treatment, there are 2:
your dentist may provide you with a mouth guard to wear during sleep. This will prevent the top and bottom teeth locking together.
Also, it has been proven that there is a correlation between teeth grinding and stress, so reducing stress will help stop the problem. Maybe try de-stressing therapies, muscle relaxants ...... or a weekend away from TLK bhai would maybe do the trick :p
