Teens & Drugs

is it common in some economically struggling immigrant families?

what is your suggestion to eradicate the problem from the lives of Muslim teens?

Re: Teens & Drugs

what i noticed is cultural clash. as parents grew up in non western countries and mostly are not highly educated, they fail to understand and have good relations with their teens who are growing up in western environment. they basically have no experience and idea of their children's situation.

i have seen lots of families, where father usually works and has no time for kids, but mother does not have good language skills to help them, kids usually struggle at school and get influenced by whatever is around them.
there have been several people, whom i know, who had come out very well than others but usually it requires hard work for teens to adjust and to compromise on their values and their environment.

i think parents need to be more involved and open to their kids..............teach/update them on their values and deter them, openly, from drugs and teen gangs.

but the main problem is parents lack of education and involvement in their kids activities.
