Teen agers and "dont tell me what to do?!"

if your teen age child was to state this to you in a tone that is hurtful, how would you address this?

examples of other one sentencer emotional riddles which you feel teen agers will do better, by not saying.

how would you creatively prevent them from feeling the need to say such sentences?

Re: Teen agers and "dont tell me what to do?!"

If "tarbiat" is done correctly, there should not be such ugly episode to begin with, IMO.

Re: Teen agers and "dont tell me what to do?!"

Every child has a phase in his life during which he has a strong desire to be independent and to be 'trusted' too. If the parents try to guide him or help him the child often take it in a wrong way like he feels that "his parents do not trust his abilities that he can make wise decisions that's why they don't want him to take decisions independently". In fact mostly parents have their own intentions, it's their love and care, plus fear that Khudanakhuasta if the child is going to face some loss, this doesn't let them leave their child free.

The best solution is that first you should try to keep good relations with your children and always make them feel that you trust them. In the end, children also would come to you to suggest them about any matter of their life. Your trust would make them build their self-confidence.

well, I know what u're saying, cuz I know someone whose daughter is like that.. Whenever her mom says anything to her like clean ur room or study... She just fights back and yes tells her to back off.... Well, I see this every other day.. But her mom doesnt take her seriously, and just keep silent. I dont know, my kids are too young to behave that way, but if they do or say anything like that when they grow up one thing's for sure, they'll never escape my chittar and phainti.. I CAN NOT tolerate any kid misbehaving with their parents...

I agree with AQ its all Tarbiyat that counts, if you dont give ur kids enough time, they'll grow up to be maniacs like these... Its all parents fault if a child behaves that way.....
