Re: teel, mauyo, dholki, mehndi
Why stop here? Might as well do the saat pheray around the fire too.
Re: teel, mauyo, dholki, mehndi
what is teel?
dholkis are usually prep for mehndis and are optional.
i've seen a maiyun and mehndi happen on the same day (my khala's). it actually worked quite well. maiyun is usually just ghar wale doing rasams. mehndi includes the other side. so we did everything for the ghar wale and the groom's side was invited for later. worked out well then.

oh okay, thanks that helps.
i have no idea what's teel i think putting oil in hair, never done in my family, but my in ILs family they do it both sides involved so my parents respect that and they just asked us recently, some rasam is just putting oil in groom's and bride's hair and other putting ubtan on face. not sure, will have first time in our family, must be fun getting clothes for all days and getting ready, will post pics :)
dholki and mayoun can be kept on the same day since mayoun is restricted to just relatives and friends usually so is the dholki! now that u have 3 different days u can experiment with 3 different looks! shalwar kameez(mayoun), choori darr pyjama (teel) and pishwas/anarkali (mehndi) try diff combinations of yellow and others for all the days. blue, pink, olive green, orange, parrot green and purple are really in for mehndi and mayoun combinations!
best of luck!
Exactly, teel is a punjabi word which means oil.
So, on that day, the relatives put oil in brides and grooms hairs.
In our family, we also do that rasm and it is funny , as people put some oil in grooms eyes , beard, etc... like putting mehndi
I will just recommend u to not wear a expensive jora, becoz at the end of the day , u will have oil on ur clothes.
In our family, we dont put ubtan , so dont know about it.
And of course, u can combine some rasams :
1) teel
2)mayoon and dholki
3)mehndi
Re: teel, mauyo, dholki, mehndi
Teel is pronounced teeel or tayl?
IF its what I think it is, it can be combined with mayoun and/or dholki.
Dholki is usually ust a fun night for girls and family. I would wear pink…mainly because I love love love pink!
LOL
If you want to do rasms, I would combine mayon and teel since they might get messy. My sisters forbade people from touching my face on my mayoon…Ive got sensitive skin and didnt want to take risks two days away from the wedding day. So, people put ubtan on my hands. Yellow for these rasms and keep the outfit simple.
Mehndi day…wear fun colors…chatapati! Everyone else will be wearing yellow or green so you make sure you’re colorful and STAND OUT. I wore pink and orange on mine. My other sister wore light light green on hers, other one wore yellow and the youngest will be wearing mom’s kamkhaab gharara.

Re: teel, mauyo, dholki, mehndi
in our family we do mayoun as a week long thing...so you can do the mayoun in the morning, then do the mehendi later that night. That way you get to put mehendi on that morning
In our family, tayl/mayun are on the same day.. dholki's begin a couple of weeks before the wedding. We also have a 'naam-daalna' rasam which is pretty similar to a mehndi and that's done a couple of months before the wedding.
