Tears

Why do we have them? And why do they always come when a person cries etc? :hmmm:

Re: Tears

That is a GOOD question. I will look into it.

Re: Tears

Shak, Why YOU have them is a totally different reason, but the reason why the rest of us have tears is this:

There is a gland located somewhere in our eye socket, I forget the name but look it up would ya, and that gland makes tears that are carried via tear ducts into our eyes. Now what is the connection between crying and tears? I think that intense emotion causes those glands to produce tears…or physical stimulation such as cold wind hitting your face, laughter, …:hmmm:

Re: Tears

y r tears salty ??

Re: Tears

Thanks.

I am wondering why strong emotions induce tears. How do emotions activate those glands?

Re: Tears

I wonder too ^

Re: Tears

These glands are called lacrimal glands.

Brain center sends signals from special nerve (cranial nerve) to these glands similar way when salivary glands get the signals to make saliva with aroma and sight of food. (Munh Mein Paani Aana)

Tears are produced from both local stimulations like the cold wind mentioned earlier but also from central command from brain upon variety of emotions.

Tears have many chemicals including salt.

Sicca Syndrome is when tears are not produced (opposite of tearing) when these glands are destroyed by inflammation.
