As time is coming close i am getting more and more scared of delivery time.
How many of you got a tear & were stitched? How painful was it?
How many of you were cut down there? How painful was it?
How painful was labour and delivery eventually?

Re: Tears, Vaginal cut, Labour, Delivery - How painful was each?
I was in active labor for almost 20 hours, ended with a c-section. It is quite painful until you get epidural.however you do forget all about the pain when you first hold your baby.
Re: Tears, Vaginal cut, Labour, Delivery - How painful was each?
I got stitched both times, cut and tearing both. It doesn’t hurt if you get an epidural beforehand.
Re: Tears, Vaginal cut, Labour, Delivery - How painful was each?
Epidurals zindabad cos labour is PAINFUL and unlike anything else. Having said that, this is a useless thread for you- you won’t know what it’s like nor what your labour will be like until you are actually IN labour. So try to relax and don’t dwell on the scary stuff. There’s no avoiding it so focus on meeting your baby and pray lots for a safe delivery.
also, you won’t forget the pain of labour, But it will be worth every second of it once you are holding your baby!
Good luck!
Re: Tears, Vaginal cut, Labour, Delivery - How painful was each?
I think if you are active and healthy, the recovery is fast in both cases (natural or c-section).
Apart from that, everyone has a different threshold for pain. I have a high one and have had both a c-section and vbac. Got an epidural before my c-section so no pain and recovery was fast alhamdulillah but I always exercised even during my pregnancy.
Did not get an epidural with my vbac and it was painful but I had a quick labor. Got 3rd degree tears and infection, it was painful.
Surprisingly I was not scared of the natural process and used to think ‘how painful can it be’ and that is why I decided not to get epidural. But epidural helps.

Re: Tears, Vaginal cut, Labour, Delivery - How painful was each?
labour and delivery is different for everyone. some people get epis and they don’t work, some people have short labours so its not so bad, for others it can be as long as 2 days or so . its hard to say how it will be.
if you get an epidural on time and it works, delivery will be painless. it was for me. it was quite painful before i got it, but the pain went away in an hour, and i couldn’t feel my legs much. but as a sideffect of not being to feel too much down there, i didn’t know how hard i was pushing and i wasn’t pushing hard enough. so i pushed for about 4 hours and had horrible tears. i didn’t feel them though, even when i was being stitched up. it was uncomfortable but not painful. it only hurt towards the bottom because i got hemmorids? that was really really bad. but not everyone gets that so inshallah you won’t.
Re: Tears, Vaginal cut, Labour, Delivery - How painful was each?
but yeah if you stay active its likely that the whole process of labour and delivery and recovery will be easier for you.

Like others have said, it’s different for everybody. I just posted in your other thread…with my firstborn I did it completely natural..no epidural, no cuts or tears…and an couple of hours after labor I was so fresh and energetic I could have run a marathon lol. I was blessed with a quick and uncomplicated labor and delivery the first time. Not so with my twins…baby A tore through my cervix and was a total spontaneous vaginal delivery while Baby B had to be delivers via emergency c section.
There is no cookie cutter response we can give you for how painful it will be. Just go in with an open mind..bare as much pain as you can handle and if needed, don’t hesitate to ask for pain medication/epidural. And like Sgc said, once you lay eyes on your bundle of joy, it will all be worth it!
Re: Tears, Vaginal cut, Labour, Delivery - How painful was each?
I was very scared of the pain so I planned beforehand and got an epidural and other pain medications. Of course, it doesn’t always go as planned but mostly first labors are long so you should have plenty of time IA to get everything. Remember you are no less of a mother to get an epidural . There is some paIn but with medication it is bearable.
