I am not aware of such statement, anyhow only Debandis join the TJ so it could very well be perceived as the dawah arm of Deobandis. The weaknesses in TJ's nisaab were exposed by some to an scholar and he sorta approved saying that it was okay to use weak ahadith for 'dawa' purposes alone, to encourage people for doing good deeds.... I found that to be incorrect/unbelieveable. Anyway, to Allah shall we return and He knows the best.

I've had a similar experience. I'm friends with a number of TJs and I've discussed a few things with one of them. He presented me with the same explanation that it's okay to use weak ahadith for the sake of dawah. In addition, he said there might be some truth to it, so they cannot rule it out.

Just like you I had a hard time believing. I left it at that.
