If this is a college professor, I'd go thru the class, and finish it in one piece.
Then once the class is over, confront them.
They'll deny it if its true anyway, but at least they might feel a bit ashamed and not do it again.
Pretty unprofessional.
But yeah, your friend could have made it up.
Just keep moving through the class as if you never heard the comment. Your friend might just be trying to make you do poorly by creating some tension.
