Hmmm…Zazzy , I’m not saying that your friend is a liar. But do keep in mind that **YOU **were not there when this conversation took place.
Even if you were to complain to administration about this teacher…the administration cannot take any action unless there is concrete evidence that your teacher made an insulting remark about you. In other words…you would need for SOMEONE ELSE besides your friend to have HEARD your teacher making this comment. And without that…it would just be considered hearsay .
How do I know this? Because I’m a teacher .
Your friend did poorly on a quiz. That puts her in a defensive situation. People could even say that your friend was being bitter as a result of her poor quiz score…and fabricated this story as a way to spite both YOU and the teacher. People would even assume that your friend is jealous of you…and out of anger…wanted to blame YOU for her quiz score as oppsed to accepting any responsibility for it.
Once again…i’m not saying that your friend is lying. And it’s possible that this teacher of yours truly is unprofessional. But, it would be hard to prove just based on what you’ve posted.
Also, one thing that I’ve learned over the years is that at times even the nicest and closest of our “friends” can lie and make up stuff. Don’t forget that people tend to exaggerate when they’re upset. It’s possible that your teacher worded things in a different manner…but your friend interpreted them differently…and worded it in a way different from your teacher.
For example, a teacher might ask a student why he/she made such a careless or silly mistake on the test. The student…feeling embarrassed/angry…might tell his or her friends that the “teacher basically said that I was stupid.” Although that wasn’t the case.
My advice to you: Don’t believe everything that you hear. Trust me…I’ve even seen adult co-workers tell their peers that “The boss said this thing about you.” If you weren’t there to witness the situation…don’t dwell on it. Dwelling on the issue will solve nothing. Instead…make POSITIVE use of your energy. Focus on studying, paying attention, doing better in that class. And if you end up doing well…it would be interesting to see how that friend AND teacher behave towards you. If your friend becomes jealous of your progress…something ain’t right. And if your teacher becomes impressed…you’ll prove him wrong and it might secretly humble him.
your post cleared out many things in my mind and i was thinking the same thing about my friend lying becuase i have just met this friend last semester so not really have a bond and i believe i should go and pay full attention and also not get too involved with my friend
