Tea party

I’m going to invite a few friends over for tea in a couple of weeks (when my conservatory is finally completed and I have a new dining table - yaay!).

Question is what do I make? I want it to be a mix of a traditional english tea (sandwiches/scones) and a pakistani nashta.

Suggestions please.

halwa, poori, and chanay of course!!! i've never been to a desi breakfast party that was without. but i don't know how well that will complement the "english" theme of this party. lol.

edit how awesome would it be if you could make tiny tiny pooris (like bitesize) with the chanas n sooji halwa already stuffed in them. so its not like a big messy breakfast but finger food style. just a thought :)

Re: Tea party

Ooooh I like the idea of the mini stuffed puris. I'll experiment this weekend!

Re: Tea party

do share the recipe....okay:)

Re: Tea party

Small assorted tea sandwiches: chicken salad, veggie salad, cucumber cream cheese, open faced salmon sandwiches

Mini cocktail samosas

Mini aloo tikkis

Small scones

Mini cupcakes

Mini brownies

Assortment of sugar/butter cookies

I LOVE tea parties!

Re: Tea party

My aloo tikkis seem to fall apart, do you have a recipe Reha?

Re: Tea party

I like Reha's list lol...

I would do...
an assortment of sandwiches (filled with both english and desi fillings)
mini samosas
keema puffs
mini quiches
savoury scones
cupcakes
jam tarts
french fancies
mini chocolate eclairs
custard tarts

Re: Tea party

it could be a mixture of desi and non desi snacks

chicken patties

fish tacos

bite size wraps

bean dip
