Yet again a thread from me and I hope to have responses. Arranging a Hi tea for around 20 ppls from different cultures. I am thinking to make Egg and cheese rolls, Chicken bread, fried chicken, puff pastries and dahi bhallas. Aloing with that Mocha Java cake and pudding.
What are your opinions. Looking forward to your suggestions
Can you add fried or baked fish, that would appeal to the Malaysians, Indonesians and bangla taste buds.
also you may want to add one more savory pure veggie item for those who don’t have meat or eggs, like a veggie pasta salad, pakoras or potato salad
You can also do a frittata or quiche with or without cheese add 2-3 types of veges mixed with the eggs mixture. Vegetables options could be: onion, mushrooms, asparagus, leeks, cauliflower, shredded zucchini, broccoli, spinach or cherry tomatoes and for cheese you can do either one gruyere, cheddar or goat cheese
That’s a lot of food.
You could try making one or two big dishes that will fill people up and one or two side items.
Like chicken broast, casserole or quiche, shaami kebab, and dahi bhallay. Cake/pastry for dessert.
Falafel, dahi bhallay, and potato/fish puffs are all similar type of food. Make one.
Broast and casserole are only heavy dishes. However im thinking to leave out the fish potato puffs. Mocha java cake would be there too. Sandwiches is lots of work and somehow i got to understand that this group of ladies are not much tended towards sandwiches as i made on iftar hunter beef sandwiches and no one was much towards that.
Sandwiches is alot of work if u don’t have sandwich filling ready. how about samosas. They could puff pastry, flour dough, with potatoe or minced beef filling. Definitely don’t do something that crowd does like. U should always cater to the crowd. Chicken bread is good item. How about pineapple cake…mocha java cake may not be liked by all. Do check out bajias recipes and fauzia fun kitchen. for idea. Chaat is always a good ideA with cholay . Haleem and Nihari are hit or miss itemS.
