Anyone still using them?
I remember we used to have so many different kinds in my daadi’s house.
They were carefully hand-crafted/sewn. Some were for everyday use and others were for special occasions with gota and zari.
ohh me gosh , I love tea cozy’s … My mom used it religiously for years and years and years .. it was like a tradition in our home ..
I tried using one here after marriage and husband thought it looked wierd
but I love the use of tea cozy’s ..
A friend gifted me a set once and it was quite light in color .. it got stained very quickly so I had to let go of it , but last year I was looking for one in lahore and I couldnt find it anywhere !
I have the picture of a perfect one, will post it as soon as I can locate it
yes, we do use them in India in winter months. we have at least half a dozen of beautifully embroidered tea-cozies. :) my dad [marHoom], i remember, always used to ask us to stir the tea with 1/4 teaspoon of sugar before pouring it into cups...he told us that the sugar brightens the color of tea. :) and yeah, one more thing, he also asked us to pour hot water over cups to make them hot so the tea doesn't get cold. he loved very very HOT tea and would not drink it if it was even 1 degree less HOT...i guess i am like him...i can't drink tea if it's NOT at 110 degrees. this hot tea sometimes peels of the thin membrane of the gum just above the upper teeth :( my Dentist once warned me to avoid peeling off this membrane.
I know KKF, I am like that too, I cant have tea if its even one degree less then boiling hot !
One of the cozy sets we had in my mom's place had these beautiful little cup holder kind of things too that would fit on the cup in the middle and that way that would keep the cup warm too ... and ofcourse the milk pot cover as well ....
Infact I wonder why these things are no longer readily available in Pakistan any more :(

aaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwww...
did you know why some tea cozies had embroidered picture of a rooster on them? in our home, we had one and that was used only in the morning because the rooster signifies the onset of dawn so after fajr prayer we had tea [morning tea]...murGhe kii baang [call of rooster] azaan detaa thaa to ham log chai banaaate the aur us murGhe waali tea-cozy se ketli Dhakte the :)
I made one for a family friend once.......she loved serving different kinds of tea and always spoke of missing the tea cozies back in Pakistan so I sewed one for her.
I want to make a new one this time.....perhaps a bit modern.....so if anyone has any pics please do post them.
Muzna you know crochet , why not try something similar to what I posted ... the one that I got gifted , looked so beautiful , everyone always complimented me on it! that made me feel even more thankful to my dost you gifted me it ..
