I don't think any new player would NOT be given confidence, so I don't think it would fall under TC IMO.

usually its rainbow color mix of Allah ka karam, waalden ki duaen and qaum ki umeeden. Then comes Captain and coach ki meherbanian!

it's been there since the beginning of time. if anything, it might have gotten a little better now.
watch Aqib Javed's interview with Mani where he talked about how juniors were expected to make tea, carry bags, etc for the seniors. and how he was considered a troublemaker because he would tell people off for asking him for chai, etc.
so, doing the TC business by thanking the seniors after the match is just an extension of this...

It looks like 'Allah ka karam', 'qaum ki ummeedein' etc., seldom happens. This is why we lose more.
