During Tazia processions shia Muslims beat themselves, sometimes with lethal weapons. They enjoy some kind of joy in such pain. And never such processions go without death incidents.
It is a religious matter; otherwise no civilized society can allow such kind of a procession on streets.
Could not Shia Muslims adopt some kind symbolic protest to their historical grievances?

yaar if they enjoy it, whats gonna stop them. Theres already been a fatwa on banning zanjeer zani and some jazbati people turned against the Ayatullahs. IMO so long as they're doing it to themselves and not the average person on the street, i'd leave it be. Apart from that maatam itself is harmless, and to this date ive never heard anyone die from it.

people mark ashura however they feel is natural for them to express it. i personally find it an unnatural of grief, and suspect that it often isnt an expression of mourning, but it cannot be completely banned simply because for a lot of people it is.
the majority of people who dont do zanjeer zani etc do observe muharram in non injuring ways.
and i havent heard of anyone dying either.

they didnt ban little human, they said perhaps the blood might be better spent if it were donated. 'discouraged' is the word.

ravage, im sure it is illegal in iran. Most here donate at hussaini blood banks too.

Really no one has died during Tazia procession? There have been incidents when weapon slippd out of the hands of the participant and injured someone else to death.
I have asked. shall not the civilized society ban such processions, even if it is religious.

well you have your answer. its banned in iran so certain shias feel they can observe muharram without it.
