Taweez Help (Can anyone tell what this is?)

Somebody gave us this taweez saying they were to help with studies.

Can anyone please tell us what they are for? If they are good or not? We are muslims so we do not want to get into anything that has to do with sihr or black magic.

Can’t really post images here, so can anyone tell us how to do that? We have them scanned.

It’s often mentioned as shirk as people will think the power and protection is coming from the taweez itself, which it isn’t, but from Allah (swt) instead.

We can read this dua to save ourself from any kind of magic, sehar etc.

**I seek refuge in the Perfect Words of Allah -which neither the upright nor the corrupt may overcome - from the evil of what He created, of what He made, and of what He scattered, from the evil of what descends from the heavens, and of what rises up to them, from the evil of what He scattered in the earth and of what emerges from it, from the evil trials of night and day, and from the evil of every night visitor, except the night visitor who comes with good. O Merciful One. **

I was reading a book ‘Tajdeed or Imaan (renewal of Faith)’ by Hafiz Salah Al-Deen Yousuf where somebody asked a question:

Question: Is it allowed to make/use/write taweez by writing Quranic verses?
**Answer: **The correct method to use Dua of Qur’an and Sunnah is as our Prophet Muhammad :saw2: teached u. Writing Quranic verses or Dua’s on a pages and noding it different cloths was never proved by Sunnah. Perhaps doing this is acting as “Iltamaim” or “Altamaim”. “Iltamaim” or “Altamaim” is writing Quranic verses on sea-shells and hanging them (this done by Musrakeen ‘pagans’) and Prophet Muhammad :saw2: said this act as ‘Shirk’.

He also wrote maybe the taweez maker will show you what he/she is writing in taweez perhaps nobody tells nor suggest to open and see what is in it.
