I used to like this guy for being honest and upright as an administrator and for genuinely working to make Pakistan cricket better. Under him, power politics were reduced greatly within the team, and the team seemed more united. He also did alot to make sure that match-fixing is eliminated in Pakistan cricket.
Things changed a bit then. He brought in Waqar as skipper, who did pretty well to start off, but was quite miserable even before the World Cup and obviously in it as well, and I am surprised the chief din’t see it coming. After all he did have the power to sack him since Musharraf had assured him that he can continue as long as he wanted to! Maybe he din’t want a new captain on the eve of the World Cup. His overprotection and overpampering of Shoaib Akhter has also been a waste of time as it has done nothing to make Shoaib more disciplined or a better a bowler.
Then after the Cup, he brought Aamir Sohail as Chief Selector, who fired eight senior players. Saeed Anwar could have not been in it, but tauqir din’t mind his absence. Inzi was left out for 6 whole months when everyone thought he’d be back after 1 or 2 tournaments. In between all this, he did made a good move - to install Rashid as captain and Miandad as coach. This combo along with all the young guns did pretty well. And now we’re again hearing rumors that there might be a captiancy change!
Aamir Sohail, who is given a free hand by Tauqir, keeps pickin up new guyz for ever game and keeps openly bashing up any player who doesn’t perfom. Tauqir’s image, however, has suffered the most due to the inclusion of his son into the national team.
Keeping in mind all the recent developments, I think its about time we need a change at the helm. What do u guyz think?
I don’t like the idea of an army man being the head of cricket but if he’s good at the job then he should stay. Apparently he’s been quite instrumental in developing Pak cricket behind the scenes - whether that’s true or not I have no idea.
aamir Sohail was right to boot out the old guard and should continue trying youngsters where the opportunity presents itself. There isn’t really any choice. Well done Aamir :k:
Agreed!! The idea of having an army man running PCB is pathetic. This requires someone with actual knowledge of the game. They should not only kick out Zia but shoot him ;)
I think Imran Khan or Wasim Akram are ideal personalities for the position. What do you guys have to say???
Cricket is not the only department hes incharge of, hes got positions elsewhere, like ministry of education etc, so alot of other people feel the same way about him.
surprisingly the squad announced for SA tour (before being cancelled) Wasim Akram, Waqar, Moin Khan, Shahid Afridi were included, I wonder where that came from… esp if we were to develop youngster then why don’t keep playing them so they can develop into stronger team!

there is alot of pressure on him since we're hearing that rashid is about to be fired. now all of a sudden his faith in these old players is restored again. i know wasim and waqar are gonna retire after this game [although u never know with pakistani players], but he's also brought back the likes of elahi, afridi, moin and i think even mehmood is in the team.
he's a total nuthead. he's got no patience, and no planning. the worst culprit thou is tauqir, because he's not doing any thing abt the situation. he shd atleast hv a conversation with rashid before showing him the green flag.
