Both Gen. Tauqeer Zia and Waqar have taken a public swipe at the senior stars who didn’t play against Australia. Waqar has said that he felt let down by their absence but that they will be recalled.
Tauqeer has told these players that their attitude was responsible for the team’s poor performance against Australia. On Youhanna and Inzimam who explained they were injured, he retorted that their fitness was their own responsibilty.
I’m sorry, I just don’t see how this can work. If these players have let down their country as the leadership is trying to project, then there is no point in recalling them while taking swipes at them at the same time. Can you imagine what the atmosphere will be like under these circumstances? This is sheer lunacy and these idiots are going to wreck our chances for the world cup.
My information is that Waqar, along with rest of the management had a bust up with Youhanna over why he wouldn't take part in net practice and didn't believe he was injured so sent him home. Youhanna was vindicated when his shoulder was diagnosed as damaged.
Other senior players were also blamed for poor performances prior to the Australian series, yet Waqar never took any of the blame himself as far as I am aware. The reason why they are being recalled now is because without them we will have no chance in the world cup and the management knows it.

First ppl said that Pakistan is loosing cause Wasim is finished/under-performing/doesn't know ho to ball then when he opted out and we lost again now he's being blammed for the defeat again. Its just so amazing!!! It just gives the impression that our team revolves around this one man, whom everyone loves to hate yet no one can risk to throw him out :D
Well Waqar if he is speaking the truth should refuse to lead the team if these players are selected. But thats something he would never do. ;)

I mean someone give me one proof of Waqar EVER giving an interview against thier performances!!! These were ALL rumors and rumors and rumors and Waqaar himself said that he wants to play with them but if they optd oiut , its their responsibilty!! I m reading all these threads and stuff that Waqar blamed seniors for thier performance but he never Said it in words or in any interview!! Did he??? I dont htink so, and i agree with Wasim and Saeed resting coz they are getting old and they need rest no doubt.. But these rumors will kill the team ..
Waqar does have problems with players, and im pretty sure you know what they did with Afridi, he was practising untill the last minute prior to the 3rd match, and then he was told not to play…I mean thats just sad to hear, Afridi said in his statement that the captain forced me not to play. And before that, Youhana was sent home, when he was actually injured…I mean if these 2 incidents can happen, what makes us believe that the other rumors aren’t true as well..?
Waqar has gone on record in the past as saying that he lost two years of his career due to Wasim being captain. At the time he was bowling badly and got dropped. He came back into form and rebuilt his creer and credit to him for doing that.
But the guy clearly holds grudges too long and it's pretty much well know that he has had issues in the past with Akram. He needs to be more consistent. If he blames the senior players for letting him down, then he shouldn't pick them now. Why will they feel motivated to perform for him if he is constantly shifting blame onto them?
I don't think Waqar has blamed any of the senior players for the recent losses, he has just mentioned that senior player need to perform better, and I agree with him, along with him, Wasim and Saeed need to start performing if you want to be in the WC squad.

The fact is, four or five senior players have been accused of letting the team down including a batsman who was diagnosed as injured and was asked specifically by Waqar to take part in a net practice despite this. youhanna refused and was sent home. There seems to me to be a lack of communication from that incident alone. And now when they are brought back we get Tauqeer lecturing all of these players that they were partly to blame for the defeat in Australia. What makes you think that they will want to give 100% for leadership like this?

And Waqar is the one wh has made Afridi’s bowling more effective by playing him as a lone specialist spinner in the team and he is the ONLY captain who has never dropped Afridi from his team due to his performance or shot selction! Moin Akram Saeed all have done that they play afridi in one match, if he eperforms good.. if he doesnt they dropped him!
and as a result Afridi’s record unmder waqar is quite good..

Umair is right, Waqar playe Wasim ain all matches without any grudge at all. He realized that team is more important and infact he fought with selcters when they dropped Wasim after England series last year..... So why would he want him out of the team Now?? coz he sure knows that Wasim is oe os main weapons of Pakistn's armoury!
