I get so annoyed when people say this. They know full well that thier “truth” is going to hurt someones feelings, yet they still go ahead with thier mouths and say it, and on top of that, justify it by acting all Jannati just because they haven’t “lied”. Apart from guilt, what could they gain from saying mean things?!
