Tattoos

Are tattoos haram in Islam? I have heard it both ways, some say yes and some say no. Generally, the notion is no because by getting a tattoo, you are permanently changing God’s creation ie, your body. But then what about piercing your ears/nose? Or getting braces to straighten your teeth etc, isn’t that changing (parts of) your body too?

Re: Tattoos

The problem is ghusl, you can’t do ghusl mayyit (dead) where there is permanent tatoo but then you can remove tattoo in your life time

But then you don’t know when you are going to die

I mean washing of the dead body

Maybe that’s why hard to say halal ya haram

^ But tattoos don’t cover the skin, they just change the color of it, so not sure if ghusl is the reason, though I also heard that they are haram in Islam.

Re: Tattoos

since, in Islam, non medically necessary permanent changes to the body for beautification purposes and/or it’s mutilation [exception: male circumcision] is not permitted, tattooing falls in both categories and is totally unnecessary. hence, it’s not allowed in Islam…in other words, it’s Haraam.

Re: Tattoos

Mehndi tattoo haram ?

Fixing lamba nose haram?

Wearing teeth braces haram ?

:halo:

Permanent tattoo I will say makrooh ,why bother having pain to have one and then when old it looks ugly

I did not know that male circumcision is for beautification purpose. Thanks for sharing this insight

Re: Tattoos
