I was just curious that what does islam has to say about tattoos.Because i’m a muslim and i’m about to get a permenant tattoo on my arm i’ll get it anyways no matter what but i was just wondering what does our religion has to say about it.I dont see anything wrong with that but thats just me i would like to know the expert opinion.

this issue has been discussed earlier here , and the conclusion of that thread was that islam doesnt allow tatoos... for some reasons and people brought up some hadiths and Quranic verses to proove the point......

Cool man, just make sure you use sterelized needles. I have my wife's name tattoo on my upper arm since the time she was my girlfriend.
but as far as the religion goes its not allowed at all, think about it twice before you get it done because once you have it, its for life. even if you remove it, it leaves scar.

I dont c why any religion will keep u away from marking ur body...To me God sounds more like the huge Microsoft who doesnt believe in open source code..and want u to stick with whats given... on the contrary microsoft gets cursed out by billions for being so close minded and God gets praised... Hypocracy ... isnt that also one of the elements to be avoided according to most religions..including Islam.. well then the mullas should realize that.. and not hand pick whats suitable for them...
When all is said and done... I would personally never get a Tattoo... why ..cause the process is not a 100% reversable... U r sacred of dying cuase u know u aint coming back...death is irreversable... We do many things everyday which we wish we would have done other wise... and when we do get a second chance.. we do it differently is we r any smarter.... Getting a Tattoo will be there for good.. (even if u try and get rid of it, it will leave a scar)... U need to sit down and think if u r really sure u wana get it... and from reading ur post, i am a 100% sure that u have ur doubts abt getting one done.. A convincing excuse might prevent u from getting one, and also satisfy ur innerself that atleast u tried.... But remember one thing... You may WANT a tattoo.. But u dont NEED one... It makes more sense to make such irreversible (to an extent) actions for ur needs...but for ur desires... is going a liitle over board.. but then again its my oppinion... and i am sure u have one too.. if after reading all this u still think u need or want one... Well good luck..and once u r done being poked all over post ur pics here for us to admire ur permenant scar..opps tattoo that is..:)

Tattoos are considered filthy in our school and they prevent the validity of prayer. This is because tattooing--according to the explanation of the fuqaha--is extracting blood from the hand (for example) using a needle and then mixing a colored pigment with it that will mix with the blood and then dry so that its substance remains on the outer body.
Tattoos are prohibited (haram) and are obligatory to remove, unless one fears harm thereby, such as becoming sick, or delay in recovery from sickness. In such cases, it would not be obligatory to remove them.

well i 'm getting a laughing reaper skull tattoo on my left arm .Alot of people told me that you can't pray if its a figure ,well i quit praying 3 months back so it doesn't really matter but i would like to know the link between tattoo and prayer.
its my body atleast i should be able to do watever i wanna do to my body don't u think. Religion should leave me alone for one sec thas all i ask. Cuz i believe my religion would never let me do anything i want my religion wants me to live a 1400 years old life style.

I am not trying to put u down.. i do agree that the religion should be kept out of this... as far as the 1400 year old life style goes.. Tattoos are older than that,... and not to have them was the civilized way of life that man chose to be a part of... Frankly yup religion should be kept aside.. but if u r wanting to live in the present... my friend, tattoos will only force u a step backwards if thats what u r after!

a figure (or picture) is prohibited in Islam..that's why you can't pray with any pictures around you. That's the link btwn the tatoo your getting and prayer. My understanding with tatoo's in general is that your wuzu in not valid if you have a tatoo... kinda like wearing nail polish. If you'r wuzu is not valid... your namaz is not valid.
Its true that you should be able to do whatever you want to do to your body, but Islam is not just a religion...its a lifestyle. Namaz should be part of your lifestyle too. If you can't accept this lifestyle, they why are you concerned with the the experts have to say abt it?

well i didnt get anything out of my life style which i adopted ever since i was a kid,i'm saying that i was a religious person up till last year but still i didnt quit praying but 3 months back i realized i think i'm gonna have to change my self cuz god doesnt care about me then y should i care about him or my destiny .so i changed my so called life style . i specifically mentioned that any opinion wouldn't change my plan i just needed the information that y tattoo are not allowed thas it i didnt say that with the experts opinion my plan might gonna change ,no not at all.

sicne u quit praying 3 months back i dont think u need to worry much about what religion allows and what not....
i see this thread as a mockery of religion....
Islam does not alow tattoos and there is hardly any disagreement among scholars over the issue....
and if like praying, u can esaily dump other religious rulings, then why bother asking....
