tatoo vs. peircing

can anyone provide any islamic facts regarding tatoos? to my understanding they are not allowed because your deforming your body…but is there any facts to back this up? and if that is the case, what about ear and nose peircings? aren’t they a form of deformation as well…??

Re: tatoo vs. peircing

tattos are haraam islamically becoz when for example a person is in state of impurity the whole body become impure and when taking ghusal its is wajib that water reaches every part of the body to the roots of the hair ..on the body. so because there is a tatto .. it prevents the water to reach its destination ... and wudu bhi nahin hota if you have tattos on arm for example ... and plus it deforms the body ....

Re: tatoo vs. peircing

i dont understand how a tattoo would interfere with wuzu.

Re: tatoo vs. peircing

^ me neither. although i have heard that it is haram on the basis of mutilating or deforming body.
have no idea about piercing but is probably frowned upon because traditionally women adorn themselves with jewellery and men are encouraged to steer clear of such things.

Re: tatoo vs. peircing

Thread moved to the religion forum. seems better suited here.

Re: tatoo vs. peircing

piercings for women are halal and haram for men?

Re: tatoo vs. peircing

The reason it is Haraam and wudu is not complete is cos the main objective of wudu is that water reaches the skin, and when ablutoin/wudu is performed that objective is not possible to complete since the tatto prevents it.. and if you say that wudu has certain body parts i.e arm hands etc and why cant we have tattos elsewhere on the body .. well then its the same objective ... that water reaches the skin .. so in the event of Farz or sunnah Ghusal (normal) then the water must reach all parts of the body.

Re: tatoo vs. peircing

Yes true but so long as the women dont go over the top meaning .. she i believe has limits . like nose pierce and ears ..thas it .. :D

Re: tatoo vs. peircing

tsk now its in religion and foreboding.
I was speculating that why i used the term ' frowned upon'.I haven't got enough knowledge declaring haram or halal, let alone the reasons for that. maybe some one more knowledgable can come along and sort that out.

Re: tatoo vs. peircing

how can the water not reach the skin?Do you know this for a fact or like me are speculating? I mean tattoo is not like nail polish ,its carved instead of being pasted on the skin i think that water actually reaches the skin.

Re: tatoo vs. peircing

Tattoos are beneath the skin not above it so water reaching the skin is not an issue. If tattoo is deformation of body then so is all kind of piercing and cosmetic surgery.
