Any suggestions about how to prepare it best?
Re: Tasty brown rice
the taste of brown rice is an acquired taste, we been using brown rice for almost 4 years now, I have tried many different varieties of rice (even finest quality basmati) the best was sona masori brown rice(for our taste buds), it is short rice and doesnt have the basmati type khooshbu. Didnt like basmati brown rice.
I cook brown rice in 2.5 times water ( 1 cup rice 2.5 cup water) in pressure cooker with 6-8 whistles and then I leave it, without opening the lid, to fluff up a bit. I have made fried rice, veg biryani and chicken pulao with brown rice, it turned out quite nice. I had to make it few times to get it right. For all kinds of brown rice preps that I tried, I always precooked rice. It takes way too long to cook, I will not suggest boiling the rice, like white basmati rice prep because it may take more than 45 minutes and rice grains kind of split, in cooker they stay intact.
I would suggest make it plain and once you get a better hang of how long it takes to cook and all you can try other variations.
I even make dosa with brown rice, tastes very good.
