tasbeeh

when you are about to do a tasbeeh of anything or just recite ayahs, surahs

my mother always says to read durood shareef a certain number of times before reading the actual stuff.

is that absolutely required ??

Re: tasbeeh

nope. nothing is required.

Re: tasbeeh

can anyone else provide a more coherent response ?

thanks.

Ok so the logic behind reciting durood before (and after) dua or tasbeeh came from thought of buzurgs that when you recite durood, angels come down to receive it, and while they are there, if you also do dua then they will take it with them too. So you are kind of making sure that your dua will be delivered.

The reason why many think that it's not required is when prophet asked his daughter to recite a particular tasbeeh (the one known as tasbeeh e fatimi), he did not ask to recite durood before that. If it was required then he would've asked her to do so.

Re: tasbeeh

^so it shouldn't be read?

Some ulema say that start with fateha, then do durood and then dua or tasbeeh. Reason is that we should start a naik amal with the name of Allah, not with the name of rasool.

But none of the above mentioned is a requirement.

Re: tasbeeh

what TLK said ....
& its like your duas get fulfilled when you read darood shareef before & after ..... its not compulsory though but its good if you read your tasbeeh with darood shareef before & after ......

Re: tasbeeh

**Bismillah Ir-rahman nir-Raheem

Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect 33:56

RasoolAllah Sallallahu Alaihi wa Alehi wa Sallam

Among the greatest means of obtaining ease in times of hardship is invocating blessings and peace upon the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and give him peace), which the Prophet (may Allah bless him and give him peace) himself clarified for us how in a tradition narrated by Ubai bin Ka’ab (may Allah be pleased with him), who said; ‘I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, I supplicate often, so how much of my supplication should I devote to you?’ He replied, ‘as you desire’. I said, ‘a quarter of it?’ He said ‘as you desire, but if you were to increase upon this, it would be better for you.’ I said, ‘half of it?’ He said, ‘as you desire, but if you were to increase upon this, it would be better for you.’ I said, ‘two-thirds of it?’ He said again, ‘as you desire, but if you were to increase upon this, it would be better for you.’ Finally I said, ‘and if I dedicate my supplication in its entirety to you?’ He said, ‘then your needs will be satisfied, and your sins forgiven.’

Tirmidhi narrated that ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said ‘Verily, supplications are stalled between the heavens and the earth, and are not lifted up until the supplicant invokes blessings upon the Prophet (may Allah bless him and give him peace).’

I guess if you read Durood first it opens the path for your following suplication. I like the Method of your Mother

Re: tasbeeh

Adab of dua is

first praise Allah subhan wa taAllah
then send blessing (darood)upon muhammad sallal laho alehe wassalam
n make dua
