Tasawwuf, can it be a recipe of peace.

I agree. It fails because people don't have faith. Or they have faith but the wrong kind of faith and in the wrong things.

To achieve peace, we have to be moral at all times, and keep our focus right at all times. The problem with people is that whenever they encounter difficult periods in their life, they give up on their morals and principles. That's because they don't have faith - they don't realize that sticking to our morals is actually better for us in the long run. In the end we wind up hurting ourselves.

You need faith to choose between what's right and what's easy. Most people just go for the easy choice, hence they lack faith in god and morality and peace and everything good.

We can mke anytyhing we like of the meaning of peace but

1- The actual post did not ask for inner peace.

2- Inner peace as we see it has not produced a single beneficial thing for mankind so far.

All the inner peace champions sat on their butts and thought about the creator and lived life away from the world.

While those who had lack of satisfaction from available means and resources looked hard and found solutions to make thigs better in life.

Now same inner peace masters fly in a plane and get to England and USA in a matter of hours and give full page ad to attract others so they can teach inner peace to these inner peace seekers.

Sarcastic but I hope you got the message.

While inner peace is good but too much of it makes a person lazy and oblivious of the surrounding.

Peace.

Re: Tasawwuf, can it be a recipe of peace.

Diwana, you have the wrong idea of inner peace. It does not mean sitting on your butt and thinking about nothing. It just means being content with everything, not having any negativity.

OK in my observation whenever we started emphasising 'inner peace' we became stagnant. We stopped thinking for more or better change and we also could not invent new ideas, items or inventions. We made observations but did not use it for humanity.

Someone looked at sky and saw birds flying and it had to be the urge to do more that brought the idea of making an airplane. The person was not 'content' or satisfied with what he had.

Yes I woud say inner peace is overall good but it does bring some negativity to it.

Re: Tasawwuf, can it be a recipe of peace.

Chinenes got off heroin addiction and became a powerful nation. Heroin brought them 'peace' though.
People with taswwuf have the kind of mind which releases endorphins bringing calm and 'inner peace', much like the heroin use. They unfortunately lose the balanced attitude.

Ever seen a Pir sahab going out, work hard or help others?

All the people who got something in this world had 'something is missing' or ' something needs more' kind of attitude.

Re: Tasawwuf, can it be a recipe of peace.

is it like dhikr or a step wise graduation to reaching close to God?

Re: Tasawwuf, can it be a recipe of peace.

Diwana, that's the thing. You don't have to be miserable to want more. You can be happy and content and still want better for yourself.
In fact, it is the people who are grateful for what they have that have the most.

You only stagnate when you are negative in your thinking.

The idea is not to think that everything is perfect. The idea is to think that things could have been even worse. Whatever you have you should be grateful for it and be happy. It doesn't mean things cannot get better.

OK. The bolded sentence makes the best sense.

We can otherwise agree to disagree. Good talking with you.:)
