found this intersting intersting info/pic,
hope its not posted here before, although i did search the forum

I thought Student Biryani started in the mid 80's. I was in St.Pats and I think we were one of the original orders in '84.

EDIT
BTW: If I got this spam in NY and call, how the hell are they going to deliver to me. I would call and place 3-4 orders right now. getting hunger pangs.

Tofi,
i think it got famous in 80's, but interesting to know as claimed the guy started the business in 69.. 12-13 years of hardwork finally paid off!

St. Pats i think is pretty close to Cafe Students.. isnt it!! Do u rermber why it was called Cafe "Students" ..b/c of its close Proximity to city colleges?

I think it was because of all those schools:
-st. pats
-st. josephs
-st. pauls
Maybe it was a thaila before that. Like our churan wala (only churan didn't take off as a commodity in the international world).

"Maybe it was a thaila before that."
could be true. heard even Bindu Started off this way (selling Chicken Tikkas/Kabobs on a street cart-thaila) before getiing rich and famous

"our churan wala (only churan didn't take off as a commodity in the international world)""
:rotfl" :rotfl" :rotfl", but those churun wala guys always sold good variety of colorful and chut-putey Churuns ;)

i think Hamdard sells churun tablets (cant think the name) plus plus some of my indian friends use Hajmola (churun drops)

Come on dude, hajmola doesn't compare to the churan they use to sell. I was particularly addicted to the purple one. I don't know if it had a name.
