There are 14 places (15 according to Shafai) in Quran which when you recite or hear, you should do a sajdah.. they are called verses of Sajdah.

Re: Tarawih questions
before the "salaam pehrna" step???
Re: Tarawih questions
yes... if you hear or read it while praying, you do that right away and continue your prayer. That is how it is prescribed in the salah.
Re: Tarawih questions
thanks aalim online.
Re: Tarawih questions
I think sajda after reading tashahad while sitting is ONLY if the imam believes he made an error during the two rikaah.
The sajda AQ is describing above is done during recitation, mostly done right away and you go back to qirat after doing the sajda.
Re: Tarawih questions
^ was going to point out the same....
it was most probably sajda sahw and not sajda-e-tilaawat....
sajda-e-tilawat is usually only one sajda, two sajdas r when someone thinks he has made an error....
Re: Tarawih questions
^
that is correct.. I did over read it about two sajdahs.. that seemed like it was sajda-e-sehv, which is compulsory if a waajib of salah is missed...
I apologize for misunderstanding.
Re: Tarawih questions
Oh ok. Makes more sense.
There are two imams, and the first one did the sajda thing, and the second one did it too within the same night. Couldn't have been the Quran-based one.
Re: Tarawih questions
^ why not????
Surah Hajj has two sajdah-e-tilaawat in it....
and if they were reading that particular surah that night, cud very well have been sajda-e-tilaawat....
r u confusing us on purpose????
first u said it was two sajda and hence we thought it wud not be sajda-e-tilawat and now u come back saying the two sujood were by two separate ppl....
now it seems more likely that both of them were sajda-e-tilawat....
Re: Tarawih questions
What the hell man, stop confusing me.
Imam number one did TWO SAJDAS before "salaam pehrna" at the end of the 12th rakat (or the 8th, can't remember).
Then Imam number two did TWO SAJDAS before "salaam pehrna" at the end of the 16th rakat.
Now put forth a clear diagnosis.
Re: Tarawih questions
^ two sajdas definitely sajda-e-sahw....
where do u pray that both imaams r confused and forgetful.... :p
Re: Tarawih questions
The second one is screwed up. He doesn't pronounce things clearly, reads too fast, and then trips over his own words. He should be offering those sajdas after every 2 rakats. He is a nice old man though, I hear.
The first, I dunno. Maybe he's trying to be a cool cat.
Re: Tarawih questions
^ sajda-e-sahw is not required if someone make mistakes in the recitation of the Quran during the prayer....
only if he makes a mistake (or thinks he has made a mistake) in the obligatory parts of the prayer....
Re: Tarawih questions
Did imam say "assalaam o alaikum warah matullah" before making sajda? If so then those were sajda-e-sehv
Re: Tarawih questions
^ u can make sajda sahw without salam....
Re: Tarawih questions
^
Is that according to Ahnaaf?
If so, I was never aware of it.
for letting us know.
Re: Tarawih questions
^ I have seen mostly done by Arabs (Hanbli?) making sajda sehv without one-salam right before terminating two-salams.
